The first pitch of the season we knew would make it to this tournament was Aroldis Chapman’s Slider as the pitch made us freak out with seemingly endless horizontal bend to Brad Miller – Chapman armed with this kind of weapon after getting batters to prepare for 102+mph makes for a one-sided battle. Chapman will have to survive a bout with another Slider from an excellent reliever in Adam Ottavino as he’s made us marvel at his pitch all season long. Here he throws a 2-1 Slider that finds its way back to the plate after appearing to be en route for Justin Turner’s shoulder. Amazing.
