Bets of the Day – May 27th

Kyle Stanzel highlights Monday's best bets around baseball.

Following a rainy Wednesday, we have a loaded slate of baseball on Thursday. Here’s a look at a couple of bets we are looking at it, including, you guessed it, the White Sox against a LHP:

Padres @ Brewers Run Line

Since striking out ten Marlins hitters in six innings on May 8th, Adrian Houser has been much less effective and has walked nine batters and allowed seven hits over seven innings. This also includes giving up three HRs in his last start against Cincinnati and that is not going to fly against a team with as much firepower as the Padres have. Opposing him on the mound is Ryan Weathers, who has been effective every time he has pitched this season and the only question is how many innings he will get. With no Dinelson Lamet (starting Friday) backing him up, I think Weathers has the chance to go pretty deep in this one against a Brewers squad that has a 27.6 K% against LHP. Milwaukee only mustered two hits in support of Corbin Burnes last night and they are headed for another blowout loss on Thursday afternoon.

Pick: Padres -1.5 (+135 DK, +128 FD)

Royals @ Rays Run Line

Shane McClanahan continues to show improvement on the mound for Tampa Bay and it feels like he is on the verge of a truly dominant performance. Enter a Kansas City lineup that has .292 wOBA and 84 wRC+ against LHP this season and just struck out 13 times against Rich Hill on Tuesday. Prior to the past two games against Kansas City, the Rays offense was the hottest in baseball and I think we see a return to that form today. Tampa Bay is much better against RHP (.324 wOBA, 112 wRC+) than LHP (.299 wOBA, 94 wRC+) and get Royals righty Brady Singer on Thursday. After a few close games, look for Tampa Bay to ride a hot start from McClanahan and blow the doors off Kansas City.

Pick: OVER 4.5 (+125 DK, +116 FD)

Orioles @ White Sox First Team to Score and Win

Ladies and gentlemen, we have another White Sox vs LHP matchup! Chicago faces Orioles LHP Bruce Zimmerman and his 5.59 ERA/5.69 FIP on Thursday and I don’t think I have to go into too much detail on what I think is going to happen there. However, sportsbooks are starting to catch onto the White Sox success against LHP so we have to get a little creative. Chicago’s run line is at -114 which just isn’t juicy enough for me. White Sox starter Dylan Cease has been impressive for the most part this season and often only ends up running into trouble later in his starts. Cease owns a 2.33 ERA in the first three innings, showing dominance the first time through the order. As such, I am looking at the White Sox to not only get the win, but also to score first off Zimmerman, which is at a much more appealing +123 on DraftKings right now.

Pick: White Sox First Team to Score and Win (+123 DK)
