The 5 Best MLB Moments from Thursday

Thursdays are cool.

Happy, happy Friday! We’ve reached the end of yet another epic week of baseball. Hopefully, you’re well on your way to winning each of your fantasy categories or have a big lead in your fantasy points league. If you’re not, there’s still time to catch up to your opponent!

Fair warning: This article is a little heavy on the Twins/Red Sox content. It was unintentional because I love all MLB teams semi-equally.

Miguel Sanó’s New Friend

Now, this is how you make a baseball fan for life!

Good on Sanó for making a new fan for life.

I really missed moments like these last season. As a baseball fan, I tend to forget these little moments exist (I can’t speak for everyone, just myself) in the offseason or during the dog days of summer. So, it’s always nice to get a reminder of the kindness and little moments that make our game great.

Might Need a Fresh Cup

Mychal Givens is just going to have to ask for a new cup of joe after this Jonathan India dinger:

The ballpark PA system warns against fast-flying objects leaving the field of play, but I guess Givens thought his coffee would be safe from those fast-flying objects.

Elite Frame Job

We had ourselves a position player pitching in the Red Sox/Twins matchup. But, it was no ordinary position player pitching; it was the incredible Willians Astudillo, aka “La Tortuga.”

Chris Sale Doing Chris Sale Things

Speaking of the Red Sox/Twins tilt, Chris Sale had himself a heck of a third inning last night. 9 pitches. 9 strikes. 3 strikeouts. Immaculate.

For the statheads out there: Sale tied Sandy Koufax, a fellow southpaw, for the most immaculate innings in a career. Sale now has three immaculate innings for his career, with the first coming on May 8, 2019, the second on June 5, 2019, and now the third on August 26, 2o21.

Creative Giveaways

I am always down for a good giveaway. It’s fun to see a creatively-themed giveaway, as opposed to yet another bobblehead. Not that I have anything against bobbleheads, but the marketing team has to have an ounce of creativity sometimes!

I think it’s safe to say that the Mariners absolutely knocked this one out of the park, no pun intended. A play on Ty France’s last name, the Seattle faithful got to wave their baguettes around however they saw fit! I was unable to confirm whether these baguettes were edible, but either way, this one may be the top choice for Giveaway of the Year.

Here’s how you use a baguette to cheer on your favorite (or favori) team:

Have a great Friday and a great weekend! Stay cool out there, the weather is hot and the sun can burn you!
