The dust has settled on the 2024 MLB Season, and now projection season is in full swing. It's been about a month since we released our initial projections, and there are some new features and improvements for version 2:
- Projections now include playing time. Playing time estimates are based on previous role, usage, injury history, and lineup spot (for hitters).
- Hitter projections feature more granular PLV metrics. Our hitter PLV metrics are now grouped by MLB's Attack Zones, to better show how the hitter uses those skills. Ex: Instead of saying "This hitter has positive Decision Value", the projections now consider whether that Decision Value comes from the Chase/Shadow zones (which is better for BB% and Swinging Strike%) or if it comes from the heart of the plate (better for Called Strike% and batted ball metrics).
- Yahoo position eligibility for hitters. All eligible positions (5 Games Started or 10 Games Played) are listed, for each hitter. Hitters with no eligible positions are listed as "Util".
