2026 Under Rostered Dynasty Prospects 3.0

Identifying Underrostered Prospects in Dynasty Leagues.

One of the biggest mistakes dynasty managers can make is letting their Minor League roster grow stale. Holding onto the past value of prospects, instead of prioritizing new prospects, is a quick way to fall out of contention. This article is meant to help with that. The article below identifies several prospects who should be priority adds for dynasty managers in various league sizes. There are also some drop candidates listed who should see their roster rate decrease based on recent performances.

Using data from the Fantrax support team, we see an estimated 34% of all leagues on Fantrax are dynasty leagues. Another 30% of leagues are considered keeper formats. For this article, it is assumed that prospects are rostered in about 45% of leagues on Fantrax.

Prospects That Need to be Rostered in All Dynasty Leagues

This section is reserved for players more than 20% rostered already, but less than the estimated 45% of leagues that roster prospects

Devin Fitz-Gerald, 2B/3B, WSH

29% Rostered

His recent struggles against Double-A pitching should not overshadow the upside that Devin Fitz-Gerald has flashed through the first half of the season. The 20-year-old infielder is up to 13 homers and 11 stolen bases on the season. The increase in Fitz-Gerald’s power output is directly tied to an improved ability to get the ball in the air consistently. This gives him easy 20/20 upside that all dynasty managers should be buying into. His hit tool is raw. Fitz-Gerald can be over-aggressive at times, but he has plenty of time to continue developing. Fitz-Gerald should be rostered in all major dynasty leagues. If anything, his recent struggles open up a buy-low opportunity.

Demetrio Crisantes, 2B, ARI

21% Rostered

A shoulder injury ruined Crisantes’ 2025 season after just 34 games. Then, a hamstring delayed the start of his 2026 season and impacted how dynasty managers valued him. This is the primary driver behind his 20% roster rate. However, Crisantes is healthy now and needs to be picked back up in any leagues he was dropped in. The most notable part of Crisantes’ return has been the uptick in home runs. Game power was the one thing missing from Crisantes’ profile, but he has already hit four home runs in just 23 games. Combine this with his excellent on-base skills, and you get a top-tier prospect. He has yet to steal a base this season, but considering he stole 30 in 2024, that likely has more to do with his hamstring than anything else. The further removed from injury he gets, the more likely dynasty managers see those stolen bases return.

Prospects Dynasty Managers Should Add if Available

This section is reserved for prospects that are rostered in many formats but are less than 20% rostered in Fantrax Leagues

Patrick Forbes, SP, ARI

13% Rostered

A right flexor strain delayed Patrick Forbes’ professional debut until May 27. However, the 29th overall pick from last year has been nothing short of excellent since returning. During his time at Louisville, nobody ever doubted Forbes’ stuff. He has a high 90s fastball that gets good movement, his changeup is effective against lefties, and his slider is a great strikeout pitch. The question was just how well Forbes could command his stuff. Through his first four appearances, Forbes has allowed only one walk and just one home run. This, while striking out 18 batters. Forbes should find himself pitching in Double-A before long, and he is a pitching prospect worth knowing. His roster rate needs to be much higher than 13% moving forward.

Luke Adams, 3B/1B, MIL

16% Rostered

Everything finally seems to be falling into place for Luke Adams. Those in the dynasty community are starting to catch on, but Adams is still only rostered in 15% of leagues. This needs to change. Adams is a power-hitting corner infielder who does all of the little things right. He has an excellent understanding of the strike zone. Adams hits a ton of line drives while also getting to his pull side well. He has strong batted ball data, good contact skills, and even projects as somebody who can steal 10-15 bases any given season. Adams is knocking on the door of the Major Leagues. He is slashing .294/.448/.779 since returning from the IL on May 26. Dynasty managers should go check if Adams is available and add him if so.

Deep Dynasty Prospects to Add to Rosters and Watchlists

This section is reserved for prospects who are less than 5% rostered in Fantrax Leagues

Easton Carmichael, C, PIT

2% Rostered

A three-year starter at the University of Oklahoma, Easton Carmichael was taken in the third round of last year’s draft. Known primarily for his defensive prowess, Carmichael has flashed upside offensively, which should be catching dynasty managers’ eyes. In High-A, Carmichael is batting over .300 with 11 home runs and 10 stolen bases. Although success in the lower levels of the Minor Leagues should be expected, it is still promising to see Carmichael perform so well. His power took a significant step forward in his final collegiate season, and this has rolled over into his first professional season. Carmichael is a deep-league prospect worth knowing, and he should see his roster rate increase as the season moves along.

Joniel Hernandez, SS, SDP

2% Rostered

Despite receiving $1.4 million from the Padres, not much attention is being paid to Joniel Hernandez. While other international free agents receive all of the attention, Hernandez is rostered in just 2% of leagues. This needs to change. Hernandez is an athletic and projectable shortstop who has all of the tools that dynasty managers seek out. He is off to a fast start in the DSL with a .365 average, one homer, and two steals. Hernandez already has great feel for getting to his pull side. This and his size give him a plus power projection. The Padres have proven time and time again that they are not afraid to be aggressive with their prospects. Hernandez could move quickly through San Diego’s system, which will only result in more dynasty value. He is a low-risk, high-reward option for dynasty managers to fill out their farm system with.

Prospect Drop Options for Dynasty Managers

Shallow League Options

Prospects Rostered in More than 20% of Fantrax Leagues

Slade Caldwell, OF, ARI

21% Rostered

At this point, it is difficult to see a lot of dynasty appeal for Slade Caldwell. Praised for his hit tool after being selected 29th overall, Caldwell has struggled in the lower levels of the Minor Leagues. Overly patient at times, Caldwell walks a lot, but also strikes out nearly 30% of the time. Despite a .314 BABIP, Caldwell is batting only .211 and hit just .260 last season. The only really enticing tool from Caldwell is his speed. Caldwell projects as a 30+ base stealer, but with well below-average power and a suspect hit tool, there are better prospects available in dynasty leagues. Caldwell is a fine prospect to drop in shallow dynasty leagues.

Jurrangelo Cijntje, SP, STL

37% Rostered

Jurrangelo Cijntje captures the dynasty community with his ability to pitch from both sides. A rare feat that is truly incredible. However, that has consistently led to him being overranked. Since being drafted 15th overall by Seattle, Cijntje has been fine. However, the inconsistencies have prevented him from taking the next step. Now with the Cardinals, who primarily have Cijntje focusing on throwing solely from the right side, the inconsistencies have continued. His walk rate remains up at 12.4%, and his HR/9 is the highest of his career at 1.51. While Cijntje has plus stuff from the right side, he struggles to locate it. Cijntje is a fun story, and an easy prospect to root for. However, there are better pitching prospects out there to target in dynasty leagues.

Deep League Options

Prospects rostered in less than 20% of Fantrax Leagues but more than 10%

Joendry Vargas, SS, LAD

16% Rostered

Almost every Dodgers prospect has their dynasty value act as a roller coaster of sorts. Dynasty managers have been riding the Joendry Vargas roller coaster for too long at this point. Incredibly toolsy, Vargas got off to a fast start in the DSL and Complex League. This is the driving force behind his high roster rate. However, since 2024, Vargas has struggled with both injuries and inconsistencies. Still in Low-A, Vargas currently owns a 77 wRC+. The power and speed tools are still present (seven homers with 14 steals), but his hit tool remains incredibly raw.  His aggressive approach leads to low walk rates and weak contact. Still only 20, Vargas is not a bad prospect, but there are far better options out there for dynasty managers to target.

Gary Gill Hill, SP, TBR

10% Rostered

Originally, the dynasty community swarmed to pick up Gary Gill Hill based on upside and athleticism. Developing in the Rays’ organization was the icing on the cake. While the upside has failed to materialize, Gill Hill has turned into a command specialist. His low walk rate is undoubtedly impressive, but it does little to project long-term dynasty value. The real issue is Gill Hill’s fastball. The pitch sits in the mid-90s but fails to generate much swing and miss. This is exemplified by his strikeout rate dropping to 17.2% since being promoted to Double-A. Gill Hill lacks the upside that dynasty managers need to target. For those still holding onto him, he is a fine prospect to drop.
