Best Bets of the Day – May 25th

Tim Speros reveals his best bets for Wednesday!

Welcome back to Best Bets, Wednesday edition. I’m your host, Tim Speros, but you can call me cousin Timmy. My goal for this article is to hit for the cycle. The four hits will start with a single, our most likely bet to hit according to the odds, and will finish with my Home Run call of the night, our most difficult bet to hit according to the odds. Grab your helmet, adjust your batting gloves if you’re wearing any, and step up to the plate. It’s time to swing the bat.

Last week we went 1-for-3.  The Giants hit no home runs and got shutdown by Kyle Freeland losing 5-3, while Giancarlo Stanton got scratched prior to gametime so that bet was refunded. We are still up big on the season so let’s get back on the winning track today.  Ready to win some money? Let’s go!

Single

The Los Angeles Dodgers (29-13) look to sweep the series today in Washington, D.C. vs. the Washington Nationals (14-30).  Behind Mookie Betts‘ hot bat, the Dodgers are 9-1 in their last 10 games. They have scored 19 runs in the last two days against this Nationals team who isn’t getting any help today from Erick Fedde and his 12% BB rate.  The Nationals are bottom-10 vs LHP, including a .074 ISO which is worst in the majors. Lucky for them they get to face LHP Julio Urías who has a 2.66 ERA, 17 K, and a Save vs Washington in his career. Take the easy money here with the Dodgers.

Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers Money Line (-215) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Double

Betting on Mookie Betts is the best thing to do right now. Coming into today, he has a seven-game hit streak which includes 20 hits in his last 53 at-bats with 7 doubles and 7 home runs. He’s hitting .377 with a 528 ISO, second in the majors only behind Trevor Story over this span.  Betts is hitting .333 with 17 hits, 4 home runs, 15 RBIs and 9 runs scored in 12 games vs the Nats in his career. He’s 5-for-7 with two home runs and a double in this series.  My money is on Mookie tonight vs Erick Fedde and the 5.15 ERA of Washington’s bullpen.

Pick: Mookie Betts to record 2+ bases (-140) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Triple

The Los Angeles Angels (27-17) take on the division rival Texas Rangers (18-23) tonight. LAA has won three straight while Texas has a three-game losing streak. These teams played last week and Reid Detmers gave up two home runs in just 3.2 innings after pitching a no-hitter in his previous start. That happens. Tonight, Detmers faces Glenn Otto, who has surrendered 10 ER, 7 BB, and a .443 wOBA over his last two starts. Not good. The Rangers’ bullpen has a .318 wOBA and a 4.06 ERA, which are both in the bottom-ten in the majors. The Angels lead the majors with a 119 wRC+ while Taylor Ward and Mike Trout are one and two in slugging percentage. The Angels win by two or more runs tonight at plus odds.

Pick: Los Angeles Angels Run Line (+116) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Home Run

You made it. We are three bets in and I’m ready to call my shot. I’m 3-for-7 in home run calls that have produced massive ROIs to keep our bankroll flourishing. How do I do it? Well, it’s all about matchups and who’s hitting the ball hard.

Bomb squad leader of the day is Colin Moran! Kyle Hendricks has given up 10 home runs on the season and has a 41% hard contact rate over his last two starts. He sports a 15.6% HR/FB rate which is 18th worst in the majors. The game is at Great American Ballpark where 130 home runs were hit between 2019-2021, most in the majors. Someone in this Reds lineup is going yard tonight and why not Moran? I really like Tyler Naquin too (+440), but If I’m taking a shot, Moran’s +730 odds will get us unlimited amounts of Skyline chili.  Moran has a 56% hard contact rate over the past week and is 6-for-27 with a HR in his career vs. Hendricks.

Pick: Colin Moran to hit a HR (+730) at FanDuel Sportsbook

There you have it folks, another chance to hit for the cycle with me in 2022. Good luck tonight, and I hope you win some beer money for the weekend. See you next time.
