Chase Anderson’s Changeup – It was a career night for Chase as he struck out 10 batters for the first time in the bigs. His first came against Andre Either with a Changeup that had a ton of horizontal ride off the plate.
Ivan Nova’s Curveball – Nova did what he could to keep the Yankees in the game against Toronto, but ultimately was served the loss. He still made some fantastic pitches, like this Curveball to Jose Bautista that made the slugger flinch before sulking back to the dugout. (Thanks to Reddit user ajwhite98 and @ericdavidmorris for the tip!)
Ivan Nova’s Fastball – The young Yankee starter also threw this nasty 94 MPH to Justin Smoak and we couldn’t justify leaving it off the list. Excellent movement back to the plate that freezes the Blue Jays’ first baseman for the backwards K. (Thanks to @ericdavidmorris and @bez424 for the tip!)
Max Scherzer’s Slider – It was another double digit strikeout night for Scherzer despite allowing 4 ER to the crosstown rivals. He threw this hard Slider in under the hands of Gerardo Parra for one of the prettiest strikeouts of the evening.
Corey Kluber’s Curveball – His Slider gets most of the attention, but Kluber’s hook is a filthy pitch on its own. Watch it get a big whiff from Aaron Hicks yesterday in the third for the punchout
