After a shortened week, there are just a few changes at the bottom and the top of the list, with much of the middle staying in tact post All-Star game. Looking at the AL East relievers, Craig Kimbrel and Roberto Osuna continued their steady runs of dominance, while the other 3, Zach Britton, Aroldis Chapman and Alex Colome underwhelmed again this week. It's really a group that could be interchangeable 2-5 for the rest of the year (Colome was a legitimate top 10 option at one point too).
TIER 1: Nothing Compares 2 U
1. Kenley Jansen (Los Angeles Dodgers)—Pedro Baez, Sergio Romo
2. Craig Kimbrel (Boston Red Sox)—Matt Barnes, Joe Kelly
3. Roberto Osuna (Toronto Blue Jays)—Ryan Tepera, Danny Barnes
I have three relievers, Osuna, Brach and Oh. Oh has been sitting on the bench (Severino filled his spot) for a few weeks because he has been inconsistent in both save opportunities and reliability. Since my league uses holds as a category, hanging on to Brach makes sense, but with Brittion “back” I really only have one trustworthy RP. AJ Ramos (Dyson too) is sitting on waivers. Drop Oh for Ramos or sit tight? I am 2nd in saves in a roto league.
Leaning towards Ramos. If you are 2nd in saves, and holds are a category, if you needs holds help maybe you’d be better off going with an elite holds option also.
Always like the list. Any chance of you/Nick (?) putting together some GIF highlights of Felipe Rivero? He has only been closing for a month and seems underappreciated. Thanks.
Funny you should mention that. Rivero K’ing Travis Shaw to end the game was featured on GIFS of the night today. Nasty slider. Sure we will see more of his stuff going forward.
