Cole Hamels‘ Curveball – The southpaw ace in the Texas has steadily produced for the Rangers so far in 2016, and he earned he third Win of the season last night against the Astros. His Curveball was looking pretty, especially this one that induced a twirl from Carlos Gomez.
Madison Bumgarner’s Slider – Bumgarner was spotting up his Slider all night and this pitch to Chris Ownings was the best of the bunch. If you don’t believe it was a strike, I present Exhibit A.
Danny Salazar’s Fastball – Salazar did his part against the Mariners, collecting seven strikeouts in as many innings. He ended the fourth frame with this excellent comeback Fastball that froze Leonys Martin.
Carlos Martinez’s Curveball – We haven’t featured Cmart all too much this season – surprising, I know – but yesterday gave us a beautiful look at his signature hook as opposing pitcher Kyle Hendricks gave up halfway through his swing.
Drew Pomeranz’s Curveball – It was a career night for Pomeranz as he carved up the Pirates lineup for 10 strikeouts. His hook was astounding and we could have selected plenty from this game alone, though we couldn’t resist this awfully good Knuckle-Curve to Andrew McCutcheon that closed the fifth inning.
Chris Sale’s Slider – Sale pitched yesterday so obviously we’re going to feature one of his pitches. We actually try not to overload on specific pitchers through the year, but how could we say no to this excellent backdoor slider to Geovany Soto?
