Hello and welcome to the Injury Report!
This roundup is a biweekly article, published on Mondays and Fridays, where I aim to detail approximately five relevant injuries that have occurred over the past few days or provide an update on the injury of a prominent MLB player. I will try to incorporate the available information as well as my own knowledge and experience to approximate a return date in each case, noting the individual characteristics of the injuries and of the players themselves.
If you have questions regarding an injury not detailed in this article, feel free to comment below, and I will give my best effort to provide a timely update.
Dansby Swanson – Left Quad Soreness
Dansby Swanson is battling a left quad injury that appears mild in nature. The current expectation is that Swanson will be able to play as normal following the break.
Estimated return: Likely to return following the break.
Nick Senzel – Right Ankle Sprain
Nick Senzel is dealing with a mild right ankle sprain. Senzel is expected to return to normal play following the break.
Estimated return: Likely to return following the break.
Jonathan Lucroy – Head Injury
Jonathan Lucroy was struck in the head at a play at the plate. He will undergo a CT scan and further evaluations. Lucroy appeared to lose consciousness during the play. Lucroy suffered a previous concussion in 2015. He will likely miss an extended period, but hopefully he is able to recover fully.
Estimated return: To be determined pending further evaluation.
Christian Yelich – Back Injury
Christian Yelich is experiencing back soreness which will hold him out of the Home Run Derby. Yelich has missed time previously due to this back injury, most recently missing roughly four games near the end of May. Yelich will likely be able to return to the lineup following the break.
Estimated return: Likely to return following the break.
Michael Conforto – Back Stiffness
Michael Conforto will take some time off over the break to rest a stiff back that has been affecting him for a week or two. Conforto is likely to return to the lineup following the break.
If there is a player you would like information on who I have not detailed in this article please comment below, and I will reply as I am able.

Hi Jeff – great report, as usual. What’s is the outlook for Eddie Rosario?
Hi Steve – sorry for the delayed response.
Things are looking good for Rosario. I’d expect him to return at some point this weekend or early next week.
