Jake Arrieta’s Changeup – The reigning NL Cy Young winner flexed his muscles in Anaheim last night, silencing the Angels in dominating fashion through seven frames. For those unaware, this Changeup that strikes out Mike Trout – one of the best hitters in the MLB – is Arrieta’s fourth best pitch. Absurd.
Chris Sale’s Slider – It was more of the same from Sale in his 2016 debut, fanning eight in seven innings as his Slider led the charge. It’s still tough to comprehend the insane horizontal movement Sale gets on his signature breaking ball.
Tyson Ross‘ Fastball – It wasn’t a fun day for Tyson, but one of his best pitches of the afternoon was this comeback Fastball against Joc Pederson that nipped the inside corner for strike three. (Thanks to @HendyLA for the tip!)
Garrett Richards‘ Slider – There were moments of brilliance scattered around Richards’ difficult outing against the Cubs last night, such as this 91 MPH Slider that featured heavy break under Ben Zobrist’s bat. It’s a prime example of his enormous upside that will hopefully be fully realized in the near future.
Luis Perdomo’s Changeup – While Clayton Kershaw had such a comfortable lead that he experimented with his Changeup, Perdomo was able to show the stud southpaw firsthand how to punchout batters with a great fading slow ball.
