Jake Arrieta’s Slider – It’s been another magical season for Arrieta, and he continued the trend on Tuesday as he allowed just a sole unearned run across six innings of work. He started strong and generated incredible late movement on this 91 MPH Slider to Matt Duffy in the first.
Noah Syndergaard’s Fastball – While it wasn’t the most dominant of performances from Thor, he escaped with his first road Win of the season with five innings on the hill. This 98 MPH Fastball down and away featured some hard ride and highlighted a nine strikeout evening.
Jaime Garcia’s Slider – Jaime has been quielty produced in the Cardinals’ rotation when he’s not healing on the DL, and he looked on point against the Dbacks. Opposing pitcher Robbie Ray didn’t even close to connecting with this Slider for the K.
Jeurys Familia’s Splitter – It’s easy to feature Familia any time he’s on the mound, and we had to give in after watching this pitch last night. The slow-motion shot reveals the insane amount of drop Jeurys generates on this Splitter, which came in at a blistering 94 MPH. No wonder Cesar Hernandez whiffed. (Thanks to Reddit user atoms12123 for the tip!)
Dallas Keuchel’s Slider – Keuchel did his thing in New York and left town with an easy victory under his belt. The Yankee hitters had no answer for him, as Dallas cruised through seven innings making batters like Alex Rodriguez swing helplessly.
