James Shields‘ Curveball – It was a solid night for Shields as he shut down the Arizona Diamondbacks. This Curveball to Phil Gosselin was just one of his six strikeouts en route to a healthy Win at Chase Field.
Josh Osich’s Slider – Reds slugger Joey Votto is a man of emotion, and it’s tough not to squeak out a smile after Osich confounds him with a front-door Slider for the backwards K. (Thanks to spike021 for the tip!)
Tyler Duffey’s Curveball – The Minnesota Twins have been happy to have Duffey inside their rotation down the stretch, and his Curveball has been sweeping like a Slurve as the strikeouts keep piling up. Check out this hook that bends down and in to Steven Moya.
Logan Verrett’s Changeup – The Mets seem to have an unlimited supply of solid starters, as Verrett produced another quality performance for the likely NL East champs. This Changeup to Justin Bour had the right amount of depth to get the whiff as Verrett placed it perfectly down and away.
CC Sabathia’s Slider – The CC of old has been gone for a while, but every so often we get a peek at what once was. Sabathia exceled on the hill last night and had his Slider working, especially on this back-door breaking ball that may not have actually been a strike to Steven Souza. (Thanks to Reddit user stielth for the tip!)
