Kazuhisa Makita’s Changeup – They say that pitches don’t actually rise, but rather have the illusion of rise due to high spin rate. In this case, Makita’s submarine delivery DOES cause this changeup to rise – and cause Trea Turner to swing about 6 inches under it.
Miles Mikolas‘ Curveball – You don’t throw a complete game shutout without having some nasty stuff along the way. This big bendy curve was a lethal knock blow.
Gio Gonzalez’s Curveball – Eric Hosmer about swung out of his shoes on this huge Gonzalez curve.
Chase Anderson’s Changeup – This is a brutal changeup that dove down and away at the last second. You aren’t gonna hit this one – or be able to hold up that check swing in time.
Corey Knebel’s Curveball – Knebel threw this pretty unfair pith that started up and outside and landed perfectly on the inside corner.
A.J. Ramos’ Slider – Down down, it goes. This slider’s late dive is gonna give you a bad time – and send you back to the dugout.
Jose Berrios’ Fastball – There are cruel pitches and there is this pitch. Berrios takes on (the other) Machado (Dixon) with this crazy two seamer that ride in on him as he helplessly flails away.
Zack Greinke’s Curveball – Greinke throws some beautiful curves. This slow 69 MPH piece of magic is the kind of pitch that causes you to land on the DL with an oblique.
