Luke Hochevar’s Curveball – Hochevar had a perfect inning of work Wednesday, complete with three Ks. The nastiest one of the bunch was the strikeout of Troy Tulowitzki, who got suckered into throwing a bat at an unhittable Curveball.
Jacob DeGrom’s Changeup – DeGrom would have had a seven-inning shutout if it weren’t for Giancarlo Stanton hitting two solo homers off the Mets starter. Still, he struck out seven Marlins, including Christian Yelich, who bit on a Changeup that faded low and away, just out of reach.
Ian Kennedy’s Fastball – Kennedy had all three of his pitches going Wednesday against Toronto, striking out 10 Blue Jays on the night. A staple of his repertoire is his blazing Fastball, which can leave opposing batters like Russell Martin in the dust when Kennedy nails his spot.
Kenley Jansen’s Slider – The Dodgers closer tossed a perfect ninth, but the game ended up going to 14 innings Wednesday night. Although he didn’t factor into the decision, he did throw a gem of a Slider that nearly caused Adam Jones to throw his back out with an awkward swing. (Thanks to Redditor siber222000 for the tip!)
Dylan Bundy’s Changeup – The Baltimore reliever struck out all seven batters he faced Wednesday. One of the victims was A.J. Ellis, who whiffed on this tumbling Changeup that worked its way back to the strike zone. (Thanks to Redditor CLEvy13 for the tip!)
