George Lombard Jr., SS/3B, New York Yankees
George Lombard Jr. has firmly established himself as the Yankees’ consensus No. 1 prospect according to MLB Pipeline and Baseball America, and since returning from the injured list, he has been one of the hottest hitters in the minor leagues. Now spending the season at Triple-A, Lombard is proving he is close to major league ready. In the month of July, he is slashing .545/.667/1.455 with a 2.122 OPS in 11 at-bats, launching three home runs in the process. On the season, the 21-year-old is hitting .270/.401/.492 with an .893 OPS, continuing to strengthen his case as one of baseball’s premier prospects.
Lombard’s advanced offensive approach is one of the biggest reasons for his breakout. He owns an outstanding 16.9% walk rate, consistently works deep counts, and has shown the ability to produce against both right-handed and left-handed pitching. In particular, he has punished lefties this season, hitting .306 while slugging an impressive .694. His combination of plate discipline, developing power, and all-fields approach gives him the profile of an impact hitter at the next level.
Already regarded as an advanced defender capable of handling both shortstop and third base, Lombard now appears to have caught up offensively with his elite glove. That combination should have Yankees fans and dynasty managers excited, as his recent surge at Triple-A has only increased the likelihood of a major league promotion later this season. If he continues swinging the bat at this level, the Yankees may have little choice but to force their hand and find a place for him in the lineup.
Sebastian Walcott, SS/3B, Texas Rangers
Another infielder who deserves plenty of attention is Sebastian Walcott, the Rangers’ top prospect and one of the premier prospects in all of baseball. Still just 20 years old, Walcott continues to impress with a rare blend of size, athleticism, and offensive upside. Just coming back to Double-A after being out for most of the year recovering from internal brace surgery, he has picked up right where he left off, slashing .412/.500/.824 with a 1.324 OPS through his first five games back. It is an encouraging start for one of the game’s brightest young stars.
Walcott has long been projected to possess an above-average hit tool to go along with elite power and speed, giving him the potential to become one of the most complete fantasy players in baseball. While the injury will likely prevent him from accumulating enough at-bats to make a significant impact in the majors this season, his strong return reinforces why evaluators remain so high on his long-term outlook.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound infielder has legitimate 30-to-35 home run potential and has already demonstrated the ability to steal 30-plus bases in a season. That combination of power and speed is exceptionally rare, making Walcott one of the highest-upside dynasty assets in the minor leagues. Once he returns to Double-A, he should continue moving quickly toward the major leagues. Dynasty managers should ensure he is rostered in every format, as he has all the tools to become a cornerstone fantasy player once he reaches Texas.
Juneiker Cáceres, OF, Cleveland Guardians
Another prospect who may not be as well known as the previous two but is quickly gaining traction throughout the industry is Juneiker Cáceres. The 18-year-old outfielder, who was signed out of Venezuela in 2024, has rapidly climbed prospect rankings and now checks in at No. 97 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 and No. 96 on Baseball America’s Top 100. Recently promoted to High-A, Cáceres has put together a phenomenal season, slashing .314/.412/.525 with a .937 OPS and 10 home runs, firmly establishing himself as one of the fastest-rising prospects in the Guardians’ organization.
One of the most impressive aspects of Cáceres’ game is his advanced plate discipline. He owns an outstanding 12.7% walk rate compared to just a 9.8% strikeout rate, an exceptional ratio for a player his age. He has also shown the ability to hit pitchers from both sides, batting over .300 against both left-handed and right-handed pitching. Against right-handers, however, he has been especially dominant, slashing .315/.395/.556 with a .951 OPS, with nine of his 10 home runs coming against right-handed pitching.
Dynasty managers will need to remain patient, as Cáceres has only recently reached High-A and is still a few years away from the major leagues. However, the upside is undeniable. As he continues to mature physically and adds strength to his frame, there is reason to believe more power will develop to complement his already polished offensive approach. With his combination of elite plate discipline, advanced contact skills, and emerging power, Cáceres has all the ingredients to continue climbing prospect rankings and could make his major league debut sometime in 2028.
Dakota Jordan, OF, San Francisco Giants
Another prospect who recently earned a promotion — this time to Double-A — is Dakota Jordan, the Giants’ fourth-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. Jordan has been one of the organization’s breakout performers this season, slashing .291/.350/.529 with an .879 OPS, 18 home runs, and 16 stolen bases. His combination of power and speed makes him one of the more intriguing fantasy prospects in the Giants’ system.
Jordan took his game to another level in July, hitting an incredible .408/.463/.878 with a 1.341 OPS and six home runs, a stretch that earned him his promotion to Double-A. While he carries a 27.1% strikeout rate, dynasty managers can live with the swing-and-miss as long as he continues to hit for average and drive the baseball with authority. His power production and athleticism more than offset the elevated strikeout rate.
Another encouraging sign is Jordan’s ability to handle pitchers from both sides. He has maintained a balanced offensive approach throughout the season and has shown he can produce against both right-handed and left-handed pitching. He also possesses one of the quickest swings in the Giants’ organization, allowing his plus bat speed to translate into impressive power.
Look for Jordan to continue his strong play at Double-A during the second half of the season and position himself for a potential 2027 major league debut. If the hit tool continues to develop alongside his already impressive power-speed combination, there could be significant fantasy upside for dynasty managers.
