Rainiel Rodriguez, C/1B- St. Louis Cardinals
St. Louis Cardinals top prospect Rainiel Rodriguez has been one of the most impressive young hitters in the minor leagues this season, and his August performance was another reminder of just how much upside he has. Rodriguez was outstanding throughout the month, hitting .393/.440/.809 with a ridiculous 1.249 OPS and nine home runs. At just 19 years old and already playing at the Double-A level, Rodriguez continues to look well beyond his years at the plate.
On the season, Rodriguez is hitting .314/.402/.563 with a .965 OPS and 24 home runs, showcasing an impressive combination of hit ability and power. He has a balanced approach at the plate as well, posting a 10.8% walk rate while continuing to make quality contact and consistently produce extra-base hits. His ability to hit for average while also developing into a legitimate power threat gives him a very high offensive ceiling. The fact that he is doing this against Double-A pitching at only 19 years old makes the performance even more impressive.
For dynasty managers, Rodriguez has the profile of a potential impact fantasy hitter. He has the bat speed and offensive instincts to continue developing into a middle-of-the-order type of bat, and his power could become an even bigger part of his game as he matures physically. There is still development ahead of him, but the combination of age, level, hit tool, plate discipline, and power is extremely exciting. If he continues progressing at this rate, Rodriguez could have a chance to become a major fantasy contributor as early as next season. He should be stashed in all dynasty leagues.
Alfredo Duno, C- Cincinnati Reds
Another catching prospect who deserves to be mentioned is Cincinnati Reds top prospect Alfredo Duno. Duno has really taken his game to another level in the second half, hitting .287/.419/.475 with a .894 OPS. Even more encouraging, 11 of his 19 home runs this season have come in the second half, showing that the power is starting to play more consistently as the season progresses.
Duno is only 20 years old and is already performing at the Double-A level, putting him on a fast track toward the major leagues. His plate discipline is another major part of his profile, as he owns an impressive 16.2% walk rate, especially for a player his age. Duno will need to become a little less pull-heavy, with a 53.1% pull rate, but that also reflects his ability to consistently get the barrel to the ball and generate hard contact.
For dynasty managers, Duno has the chance to develop into a very valuable offensive catcher. The combination of power, patience, and a strong offensive approach gives him plenty of fantasy upside at a position where impact bats can be difficult to find. A 2027 debut appears to be a reasonable target, and Duno should be a must-stash in dynasty formats for managers looking to get ahead of his eventual arrival in Cincinnati.
Emil Morales, SS/3B- Los Angeles Dodgers
Emil Morales, one of the top prospects in the Dodgers’ system, is having a phenomenal season in High-A at just 19 years old. Morales is hitting .293/.380/.547 with a .927 OPS while adding 25 home runs and an impressive 115 RBIs on the season. His production has helped him quickly climb prospect rankings, and his immense power continues to stand out as one of the best parts of his game.
Morales has the chance to develop into one of the premier power hitters in the minor leagues, but there is still some development needed in his offensive approach. He does strike out quite a bit, something that is not uncommon for young power hitters, and continuing to reduce the swing-and-miss in his game will be important as he moves up the ladder. At only 19 years old, there is plenty of time for Morales to mature and refine his approach at the plate.
A 2028-29 MLB debut could be a realistic timeline depending on his development and how much room the Dodgers have for him at the major-league level. I would expect Morales to spend a full season in Double-A at some point in his development, giving him another opportunity to prove that the power will continue to translate against more advanced pitching. For dynasty managers, Morales is a prospect worth investing in now before he potentially becomes one of the more highly regarded power bats in the game.
Caleb Bonemer, 3B/SS- Chicago White Sox
Closing out the article is another power bat worth keeping an eye on: White Sox prospect Caleb Bonemer. Bonemer is having a strong season between two levels, hitting .251/.382/.562 with a .944 OPS and an impressive 38 home runs. He has continued to show off the power in August as well, launching eight home runs and further establishing himself as one of the more dangerous power hitters in the minor leagues.
The strikeouts are unfortunately part of Bonemer’s game right now, so improving his discipline and limiting the swing-and-miss will be important as he continues to move up the ladder. However, the power is legitimate, and there is a path for Bonemer to become a consistent 35-home-run threat at the major-league level. He also brings some added fantasy value with 16 stolen bases on the season, giving him the potential to contribute in multiple categories.
A 2027 call-up at some point during the season feels like a realistic timeline for Bonemer, and dynasty managers should be looking to add him before he gets closer to the majors. With the combination of legitimate power, improving offensive upside, and enough speed to provide an added boost, Bonemer has the potential to become a very useful fantasy asset and should be a must-add in dynasty formats.
