Today’s Headlines

Lindor Walks Off Chicago, Marte Flexes Arm.

The Mets played a high-scoring affair on Monday, ultimately needing extra innings to dispatch the Cubs and split the four-game series.

Francisco Lindor was the star of the afternoon; he wasn’t in the starting lineup due to flu-like symptoms, but entered the game as a pinch hitter in the Bottom of the sixth and immediately drove in two runs to close the Mets’ deficit from three to one.

Then, in the 11th, after Starling Marte saved crucial extra-inning runs in back-to-back frames with two insane assists (see video below), Lindor wasted little time and the Mets won in the 11th without recording an out of his game winning double.

I was in attendance for this one, and honestly I’m not sure which player, Marte or Lindor, was more impressive with their late game heroics. Probably Marte, but anyway, could this be a sign of things to come for Lindor and the Mets? Time will tell! The game is better when the Mets are fun.

Kyle Bradish Debuts, Orioles Beat Yankees

Bradish didn’t officially notch the win, but his 4.2 innings effort was about as close as you’ll get to the 1-0 start without actually earning it. Bottom line, he looked good. 12 called strikes on the sinker, six whiffs on the slider … he showed some rust, but his arm is a much-needed boost to the rotation for the Orioles as they deal with the recent injury to Grayson Rodriguez.

The Orioles now lead the Yankees in the AL East by a full game, you can’t help but think that this series win could hold big implications down the road…

Christian Scott Set To Debut For Mets Tomorrow

The Amazin’ Mets are calling up their top pitching prospect to start on Sunday at Tampa Bay. The Mets are in the midst of a 26-games-in-27-days stretch, and they are using Scott to buoy their rotation for this run and also rewarding the youngster for his strong performance.

He is 3-0 with a 3.20 ERA at AAA Syracuse, and most of the damage done has come on the seven home runs he’s allowed. Mets brass isn’t worried, heralding his ability to stay focused and bounce back from surrendering home runs, a good sign for a potential big-league starter.

While he likely wont stay with the big club too long, it’ll be a start to watch – as Scott’s name could become a staple in fantasy conversations for the years to come.
