No dad strength needed for home run leader Ohtani!

Stay updated on everything baseball with our morning MLB News & Moments articles. We’ve got you covered to keep you in the know.

Today’s Headlines

Dad Strength

Francisco Lindor became a second-time father on Father’s Day eve on Saturday. He was out of the lineup on Saturday but refused to be placed on paternity leave. So, naturally when he returned to the lineup on Sunday–and Father’s Day–he hit a home run in his first at-bat back.

Lance Lynn Returns to Old Form

It’s been quite a frustrating season for White Sox fans. Lead by the disappointing year Lance Lynn has been having, White Sox pitchers have not been pitching at the dominant level they are capable of. Well, that subsided on Sunday, when Lance Lynn tied a White Sox record, striking out 16 over eight innings. Unfortunately however, true to the season, the White Sox–and Lynn–were not completely dominant, as they still lost the game 5-1.

Best Moment From Yesterday

Ohtani Driving Up His Free Agency Fee

We have heard this all season and will continue to hear it for several more months. So I will keep it brief: what can’t Ohtani do? With home run leaders Pete Alonso and Aaron Judge sidelined the past few weeks with injuries, Ohtani took full advantage, going on a torrid stretch and taking sole possession of the American league lead in homers.

He is now slashing .300/.385/.626. He is also pitching to a 3.29 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. There will be 30 teams interested in having him, and while one lucky fanbase will get him, we can all continue to enjoy what he contributes to the game.

So here’s a video of his 24th homer this season:
