Noah Syndergaard’s Slider – We were freaking out about this pitch yesterday on Twitter, and I still haven’t fully gotten over it. This is a 95 MPH Slider that doesn’t have the traditional horizontal movement found in a Cutter, but rather late dipping bite that is impossible to hit. Unreal.
Johnny Cueto’s Changeup – San Francisco got its first look at Cueto yesterday and the dreaded wonder didn’t disappoint. He had a fun interaction with Ryan Braun after getting him to chase this excellent 3-2 Changeup off the plate. Even Braun knows how nasty it was.
Aaron Sanchez’s Fastball – Sanchez had himself a fantastic return to the starting rotation as he fanned eight Rays without walking a single batter. He was spotting his heater effectively on the edges, including this comeback Fastball that froze Logan Morrison.
Hisashi Iwakuma’s Splitter – Last night didn’t feature the best of Iwakuma, but his Splitter was flat out nasty at times. Watch this incredible movement down-and-in that tied up Delino DeShields. (Thanks to Reddit user SeaTownMariners for the tip!)
David Price’s Changeup – It was the Red Sox debut for the stud lefty and Price didn’t let down Boston fans with a great performance against the Indians. He threw a variety of excellent pitches including well spotted Fastballs and big Curveballs, but this Changeup to Juan Uribe was a pretty way to get out of a tough jam.
