Prospects For the Month of July
Catcher
Carter Jensen, C KCR Double-A
88 GP|.267/.383/.444|12 HR,|50 R|42 RBI|16 SB
July was a stellar month for Carter Jensen, who took High-A by storm in July warranting a promotion to Double-A. Drafted in the third round of the 2021 MLB draft out of High School Jensen has been quietly rising through the Royals organization. The 21-year-old catching prospect has played 88 games this season split between High-A and Double-A and is slashing .267/.383/.444 with 12 home runs, 50 runs scored, 42 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases. While in High-A Jensen had a 15.2% walk percentage paired with a 22.1% strikeout rate over 376 plate appearances. In the month of July Jensen hit .295/.404/.523 with three home runs, eight runs scored, 10 RBIs, and stole one base in 12 games played. The Royals have since promoted Jensen to Double-A.
First Base
Bob Seymour, 1B TBR Triple-A
83 GP| .280/.337/.475|14 HR|46 R|68 RBI|2 SB
This season has continued to see the former Wake Forest first baseman Bob Seymour push his way into the Rays’ future plans. The four-year senior at Wake was drafted in the 13th round of the 2021 MLB Draft and has been pushing his way up steadily. This season Seymour started back in Double-A where he slashed .290/.349/.466 with nine home runs, 39 runs scored, 51 RBIs, and two stolen bases in 66 games played.
Tampa Bay then promoted the 25-year-old Seymour up to Triple-A Durham where he is starting to get settled in despite the .233/.281/.517 slash line in 17 games played. In big moments, Seymour has been coming up in the clutch crushing five home runs and driving in 17 RBIs in just 64 plate appearances. With the Rays starting to sell off some Major League talent before the trade deadline Bob Seymour could be a name to watch as August rolls in.

Second Base
Termarr Johnson, 2B PIT High-A
85 GP|.248/.394/.399|10 HR|63 R|40 RBI|14 SB
Pittsburgh has had some impressive hitters in the Minor Leagues during the month of July but one that stands out is former first-round draft pick Termarr Johnson. Despite the season-long numbers not jumping off the page the recent surge from Johsnon is something to keep your eye on. In 14 games played in July Johnson is slashing .352/.470/.574 with three home runs, 11 runs scored, nine RBI, and two stolen bases. This was building off of a solid June and could be a call to the Pirates to promote the 20-year-old second-base prospect. In 85 games played at High-A Greensboro Johnson is slashing .248/.394/.399 with 10 home runs, 63 runs scored, 40 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases with a 17.3 % BB and a 22.3 % strikeout rate in 382 plate appearances.

Shortstop
Sebastian Walcott, SS TEX High-A
82 GP|..247/.344/.426|9 HR|47 R|32 RBI|13 SB
One of the biggest bouncebacks over the past two months has been Rangers’ top international signee, Sebastian Walcott. The 18-year-old struggled mightily at the beginning of the season but the strong month in June was continued upon in July. In 15 games played with the Hickory Crawdads, Walcott is slashing .321/.406/.571 with three home runs, 18 runs scored, six RBIs, and four stolen bases. The approach at the plate has been getting better for the young prospect who has massive upside long term. In 82 total games played this season Walcott is slashing .247/.344/.426 with nine home runs, 47 runs scored, 32 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases. At the plate, Walcott is walking 12.5% while striking out 27.7% across 343 plate appearances. If your dynasty leagues wait till after the MLB trade deadline this would be a solid time to buy into the upside.
Here we go!!! 🚀 Sebastian Walcott going deep in the DSL! Keep your eyes on the 286th ranked prospect on the Frantrax HQ top 400 prospect list 👀 #StraightUpTX @fantrax https://t.co/BqpigSz7RF

Third Base
Charles McAdoo, 3B PIT High-A
84 GP|.320/.399/.548|14 HR|53 R|62 RBI|17 SB
The San Jose State standout has impressed so far this season ascending two levels to earn his spot in the Altoona Cruves lineup. Charles McAdoo was drafted in the 13th round by the Pirates in 2023 and in his first 60 games played in High-A Greensboro, it quickly looked like they got a steal of a draft pick. McAdoo slashed .336/.415/.561 with the Grasshoppers with nine home runs, 40 runs scored, 52 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases. Across 258 plate appearances, McAdoo walked 10.5% while striking out 21.7%. Now in his second month with the Altoona Curve McAdoo has made the most of his time. In 24 games played so far with the Curve McAdoo is slashing .280/.362/.516 with five home runs, 13 runs scored, 10 RBIs, and three stolen bases. Across 105 plate appearances, McAdoo is walking 11.4% while striking out just 22.9%.
For dynasty managers, there is a lot to like here. After watching McAdoo live in Greensboro multiple times there is a ton of raw power in his bat so a 25-plus home runs season is definitely in play here with 20-25 stolen bases sprinkled in. What has been impressive to see with another month under his belt is McAdoo’s not being overmatched now that he is facing better pitching talent at Double-A. Look for him to make the push to Triple-A before the season is through.
💪💥PIT 3B/OF Charles McAdoo has been on fire today first a home run now a hard hit triple that just missed going out.
On the season McAdoo is .270/.365/.397 with 2 HR, 6 R, 9 RBI, 3 SB in 18 GP.@Fantrax @GSOHoppers @Pirates pic.twitter.com/EWirlznj9U

Outfield
Matthew Lugo, OF BOS Triple-A
76 GP|.287/.380/.579|16 HR|47 R|54 RBI|14 SB
One of the most criminally under-the-radar prospects getting done in the Red Sox system this season has been Matthew Lugo. Nephew to Carlos Beltrán, Lugo has been playing like the prospects the Red Sox envisioned him being after selecting him in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Now just 23 years old Lugo started the season in Double-A Portland where he slashed .315/.405/.664 with 11 home runs, 27 runs scored, 35 RBIs, and nine stolen bases in 43 games played. At the plate, Lugo showed excellent plate discipline walking 11.7% while striking out just 21.1% across 171 plate appearances this was good enough to warrant a promotion to Triple-A Worcester. In 33 games played with the Woo Sox Lugo has slashed .252/.348/.470 with five home runs, 20 runs scored, 19 RBIs, and five stolen bases.
During the month of July Lugo played in 15 games slashing .271/.375/.417 continuing the trend of solid bat progression we have seen all season. Previously a shortstop and second baseman the Red Sox has shifted Lugo solely to the outfield with solid results. This is a prime opportunity to target Lugo in the off-season as he should get his opportunity to debut if not this season than in 2025.
Starting Pitcher
Sean Sullivan, LHP COL High-A
12 GS|78.1 IP|91 K|10.46 K/9|0.80 BB/9|2.30 ERA
The pitching revolution is now happening in Colorado as we have seen multiple pitchers start to stand out in the minor leagues and one that everyone should be watching right now is Sean Sullivan. The second-round pick by the Colorado Rockies in 2023 out of Wake Forest Sullivan has a solid three-pitch mix in a fastball, slider, and change-up but the control is what has made him stand out to this point in High-A. Across 12 starts Sullivan has 91 strikeouts over 78.1 innings pitched, good for a 10.46 K/9 while keeping batters to a .205 batting average against, and is currently sporting a solid 2.30 ERA. As previously mentioned Sullivan has been masterful in commanding his arsenal as he currently has a stellar 0.80 walks per nine innings on the season.
The month of July was fantastic for Sullivan who started two games for Spokane striking out 15 batters over 10 innings pitched walking one while holding batters to a .171 batting average against while finishing the month with a 0.90 ERA. With Sullivan dominating High-A it shouldn’t be long before he joins Chase Dollander in Double-A Hartford.
📝🔥COL LHP Sean Sullivan was impressive in his debut. The former @WakeBaseball standout dominated apposing batters.

Relief Pitcher
Camden Minacci, RHP LAA Double-A
32 GP|43.1 IP|50 K|13.1 K/9|3.7 BB/9|2.88 ERA|16 SV
Projecting future closers is a messy game when it comes to stashing relief pitching prospects in your minor leagues but when one hits it goes a long way to building a sustainable winner. When the Angels drafted Camden Minacci in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB draft out of Wake Forest the plan became apparent that they wanted to get him to major leagues quickly. Minacci started the season in High-A where he appeared in 23 games striking out 33 batters across 24.1 innings pitched, good for a 12.21 K/9 with a 3.33 ERA and racking up 11 saves. In July the Angels promoted Minacci to Double-A where he has appeared in nine games striking out 17 batters across 10 innings, good for a 15.30 K/9 while walking just 2.70 batters per nine and sporting a 1.80 ERA. The Trash Pandas are using Minacci as a primary closer as he has notched five saves in his nine appearances.
Honorable Mentions
Alex Clemmey, LHP CLE Low-A
18 GS|64.12 IP|90 K|12.53 K/9|6.26 BB/9|4.87 ERA
On the surface, the numbers do not look great for Alex Clemmey in his first full season of pro ball after being drafted in the second round of the 2023 MLB draft. If you look just under the hood you will find Clemmey has been turning it around in July in a big way and could warrant a call to High-A Lake County in short order. In three starts in July Clemmey has 19 strikeouts over 12.1 innings pitched with a .143 batting average against and a 0.89 WHIP to go along with his 2.92 ERA. Solid production for the 19-year-old who stands 6’6″ and 205 with a three-pitch mix in his four-seam fastball that has profiled as a plus offering, the curveball and change-up have been getting better as the year has progressed. On the season Clemmey has started 18 games striking out 90 batters over 64.2 innings pitched, good for a 12.53 K/9 with a 4.87 ERA.
Jhonny Severino, 3B/SS PIT CPX
56 GP|.291/.373/.545|10 HR|39 R|41 RBI|12 SB
If you are looking for deep league adds to your Minor League system look no further than Jhonny Severino. Now in his first full season in the Pirates organization, Severino performed well in the Complex League. In 56 games played Severino slashed .291/.373/.545 with 10 home runs, 39 runs scored, 41 RBIs, and 12 stolen bases. At the plate, Severino’s plate discipline has been stellar as he is walking 11.8% while striking out just 15.9% of his 220 total plate appearances. There is still time for the Pirates to move Severino to Low-A to finish the season but at 19-years-old there really is no rush with the new draft prospects getting the first look.
Nick Morabito, OF NYM High-A
83 GP|.306/.406/.388|3 HR|55 R|22 RBI|41 SB
Flying under the dynasty radar this season has been Nick Morabito who has quietly climbed to be one of the Minor League’s best base stealers this season. Drafted in the second competitive balance round in 2022 out of High School Morabito hit his stride in his first full season of professional ball starting the season in the complex league and finishing in Low-A Port St Lucie. It was there that the Mets started Morabito in 2024 as he went on to slash .397/.530/.513 with one home run, 14 runs scored, 10 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases in 24 games plated. At the plate, Morabito showed an advanced approach walking and striking out just 17.8% of his 101 total plate appearances at Low-A.
After this performance, the Mets promoted Morabito to High-A Brooklyn where he has continued to impress. In 59 games played with the Cyclones Morabito is slashing .277/.361/.347 with two home runs, 41 runs scored, 12 RBIs, and 30 stolen bases in 36 attempts. Continuing to show solid plate discipline Morabito has walked 10.5% while striking out 19.3% across his 275 plate appearances. Although not a power threat there is something to monitor here as we have seen plus speed on the basepaths as well as the bat-to-ball skills that could propel the 21-year-old outfielder up to Double-A Binghampton.
