Here are the latest holds rankings after Chickenpox-gate. Let’s see where we stand.

TIER 1: Cream of the Crop – This group is the cream of the crop. Ample opportunity for holds, high K-rates and low ERA’s make these guys a must own in any Holds league.

1. Dellin Betances (Yankees)

2. Tony Watson (Pirates)

3. Wade Davis (Royals)

. Joe Smith (Angels)

5. Sergio Romo (Giants)

6. Pat Neshek (Astros)

7. Kevin Siegrist (Cardinals)

TIER 2: Solid Performers – All excellent relievers, but whether it be their role or consistency, they aren’t quite on that elite level.

Moving On Up

– Carson Smith seems to have regained his form since been demoted from the closer’s role. Ride the wave.
– Keone Kela’s second half numbers have been outstanding (0.673 WHIP and 7.6 KK/BB) and combine that with the fact that the Rangers seem to trust him, he could be one of the biggest movers in the next couple weeks.
– Jeremy Jeffress logged 7 Holds in the month of August and could prove to be a weapon again in September and while his numbers don’t jump off that page, overall they are solid without any glaring flaws.

Falling Down

– Didn’t think I would be writing this one, but Kelvin Herrera will miss two weeks, and possibly more, with a case of chickenpox. This timing is pretty terrible for Herrera owners who are battling for a playoff berth. Anyone who will miss this much time this late in the game has to fall off the list.
