2025 Texas Rangers Top Fantasy Baseball Prospects

Martin looks into the rising stars in the Lone Star State!

The Rangers’ system puts the STAR into Lone Star State! Led by Sebastian Walcott, the Rangers system has talent, depth, and versatility on the mound and at the plate. Kudos to their pitching development and International Scouting departments, as four Rangers pitchers took significant steps forward in 2024 while their young International players are highly skilled and ready to show out stateside. The future looks bright for the Rangers!

Head over to the Pitcher List dynasty page to check out the other prospect rankings already published.

Top Rangers Prospects

The Top Tier

1) Sebastian Walcott, SS

2024 Stats (A+,AA): .265 AVG/ .344 OBP/ .452 SLG/ 11 HR/ 27 SB/ 30.0 K%/ 10.5 BB%

Walcott is poised to become the No. 1 overall prospect once Roman Anthony graduates later this season. The 18-year-old from the Bahamas has been on a fast track to the big leagues, evidenced by his reaching Double-A to close out 2024. Walcott has tools for days and has shown each of them along his journey, which began as a 17-year-old playing at High-A last season.

Walcott’s skills as a teenager are unnatural. At 6’4″, 190 lbs, Walcott is a dynamic blend of 60-grade power and 65-grade speed that surpasses everyone his age and most everyone he’s playing against despite being two or more years younger. Although he has struggled with consistent contact, even if he can be league-average with his hit tool, he’s got 30-20 upside every season.

2) Kumar Rocker, SP

2024 Stats (ROOKIE, AA, AAA): 36.2 IP/ 55 K/ 39.6 K%/ 3.6 BB%
2024 Stats (MLB): 11.2 IP/ 14 K/ 25.5 K%/ 10.9 BB%

Rocker has had a fascinating journey to get to this point. After taking the baseball world by storm when he threw a 19-strikeout no-hitter as a true freshman in Super Regionals, Rocker became THE GUY in college baseball. After three seasons at Vanderbilt, the Mets grabbed Rocker with the 10th overall pick in 2021, only to have him not sign with the team after concerns over his medical history. Rocker had shoulder surgery shortly after and then spent 2022 pitching in Independent Ball.

The Rangers selected Rocker with the third-overall pick in 2023, and he made six starts for the organization before undergoing Tommy John surgery. Following his recovery, Rocker returned in the middle of 2024 and immediately dominated the minor leagues. His MLB stint was encouraging, especially considering he had just 36.2 innings post-TJ. Rocker has an elite arsenal consisting of an upper-90s fastball and an 80-grade slider, contributing to his ability to miss bats at an extraordinarily high clip. If Rocker can stay healthy, he has front-of-the-rotation stuff.

3) Alejandro Rosario, SP

2024 Stats (A, A+): 88.1 IP/ 129 K/ 36.9 K%/ 3.7 BB%

Rosario was an afterthought at the University of Miami after posting an ERA over 6.00 in his three seasons with the Canes. The underlying issue for Rosario was an inability to consistently get hitters out despite posting a 20.9% strikeout rate. His arsenal had enough positive characteristics to encourage the Rangers to take a chance on him in the fifth round of 2023. Among those characteristics were a high-octane sinking fastball, a hard splitter, and a sweeper, all graded as plus or better.

In his first pro season, Rosario was a completely different pitcher. He led the minors with a 33.1% K-BB rate with a 2.24 ERA and an xFIP below 2.00. Rosario wasn’t erratic in college (9.9% walk rate), but his command went to the next level in 2024. With three outstanding pitches and potentially elite command, Rosario can make a case as the most underrated pitching prospect in the game.

4) Kohl Drake, SP

2024 Stats (A, A+, AA): 106 IP/ 148 K/ 35.4 K%/ 7.4 BB%

Kohl Drake’s career has a nice underdog story. He started at DII Arkansas Tech before transferring and becoming the JuCo National Pitcher of the Year at Walters State CC (TN). The Rangers then drafted the 6’5″ left-hander in the 11th round in 2022. Drake got obliterated his first season as a pro, surrendering an ERA of 6.36 and allowing hitters to bat over .300 against him. After an offseason of improved strength and conditioning, Drake dominated in 2024, backed by significant velocity gains that resulted in a massive spike in strikeouts.

Drake was one of those soft-tossing lefties early in his career, sitting in the high 80s and unable to overpower hitters. His fastball now sits in the low-to-mid 90s, and he pairs it with a plus changeup, slider, and curve. Already armed with above-average command and outstanding extension, Drake took the next step this season and is looking to build on that as a 24-year-old in 2025.

5) Emiliano Teodo, SP

2024 Stats (AA): 86.1 IP/ 110 K/ 30.7 K%/ 14.0 BB%

I’ve told this story often, but when I first saw Teodo in the Arizona Fall League in 2023, I was so uninterested in his profile that I dropped him in my leagues. In Teodo, I saw a talented arm with no clue where the ball was going. Surprisingly, his walk rate has actually ticked up higher since then, but Teodo has maintained a 30% strikeout rate despite reaching Double-A.

There is no denying Teodo’s talent. His arsenal consists of an electric fastball regularly reaching triple digits and a changeup in the low 90s. He pairs that with a devastating slider, giving him three legitimate strikeout pitches. If the command comes around, Teodo could be dynamic as a starter, but given his present volatility, he will end up in the bullpen long-term. If you like strikeout upside, it may be one of those profiles you use many Rolaids to stomach.

6) Paulino Santana, OF

2024 Stats (DSL): .292 AVG/ .465 OBP/ .364 SLG/ 0 HR/ 30 SB/ 14.6 K%/ 20.0 BB%

Santana was the crown jewel of the 2024 International Class for the Rangers, signing a $1.3M bonus as an 18-year-old from the Dominican Republic. He debuted in the Dominican Summer League this season, showcasing his best present tool, speed. Although the rest of his profile is still developing, Santana already has scouts raving.

Santana, who stands 6’2″ and weighs 180 lbs, has a projectable frame for a teenager. His body has room for growth, hopefully leading to increased power. Scouts are excited about his advanced plate approach and pitch recognition, although high walk rates in the DSL should be taken with a grain of salt. We should focus on a sub-15% strikeout rate, which is encouraging, and Santana is getting the ball in the air over 55% of the time. There are tools to build on here, so keep an eye on Santana if he comes stateside in 2025.

7) Yeremi Cabrera, OF

2024 Stats (ROOKIE, A): .262 AVG/ .395 OBP/ .463 SLG/ 4 HR/ 24 SB/ 23.0 K%/ 15.8 BB%

The Rangers got a bargain on Cabrera when they signed him to a $10K bonus in the 2022 J-15 class. His initial foray into the DSL was an abject failure as a 17-year-old. He slashed .179/.327/.286 with an 80 wRC+ in 47 games. Over the past two seasons, Cabrera has figured things out and reached Low-A last season. Although he struggled with strikeouts upon reaching the level, Santana was still relatively young amongst his peers.

Cabrera has a thin build at 5’11”, 155 lbs, but he has shown more power than expected and has plus speed. The one thing holding Cabrera back is his hit tool, which is presently below average. With maturity, the hope is that Cabrera settles in as a league-average contact hitter, which could translate to a 15-25 type of player.

Prospects Every Dynasty Manager Should Know

8) Jack Leiter, SP

2024 Stats (AAA): 77 IP/ 110 K/ 33.3 K%/ 14.2 BB%
2024 Stats (MLB): 35.2 IP/ 31 K/ 17.9 K%/ 9.8 BB%

Leiter was arguably the most heralded collegiate pitcher in the last 25 years. As a teammate of Rocker, they formed a formidable one-two punch atop the Vanderbilt rotation. Things haven’t come together for Leiter as a pro, as his ERA rests just below 5.00 with a command that has sometimes been abysmal. There is talent in the profile, but his career may be at its first crossroads entering his age-24 season.

9) Justin Foscue, 1B/ 2B/ 3B

2024 Stats (AAA): .288 AVG/ .429 OBP/ .503 SLG/ 10 HR/ 3 SB/ 16.3 K%/ 17.9 BB%
2024 Stats (MLB): .048 AVG/ .091 OBP/ .071 SLG/ 0 HR/ 0 SB/ 40.9 K%/ 4.5 BB%

Foscue has been a longtime fixture and contributor to the Rangers system. Unfortunately, he had just one brief and unsuccessful stint in the majors in 2024. After years of primarily playing 2B, Foscue has expanded to 1B to gain a clearer path to playing time. I believe in the profile and am hopeful Foscue gets a chance to shine.

10) Jose Corniell, SP

2024 Stats (DNP-Tommy John Surgery)

Corniell had a breakout 2023 season, pitching to a 2.92 ERA with 119 strikeouts in just over 100 innings. His momentum stalled when he had elbow discomfort and eventually underwent Tommy John surgery in June 2024. How he bounces back is unknown, but we should see him in 2025.

11) Dylan Dreiling, OF

2024 Stats (A+): .198 AVG/ .340 OBP/ .279 SLG/ 1 HR/ 5 SB/ 18.9 K%/ 17.9 BB%

Dreiling had a productive sophomore season at Tennessee, earning MOP honors during the CWS as the Vols won the National Title. He was a second-round pick in 2024 and immediately went to High-A. Dreiling makes hard contact and has above-average speed, which should play well at the next level.

12) Alejandro Osuna, OF

2024 Stats (A+, AA): .292 AVG/ .362 OBP/ .507 SLG/ 18 HR/ 17 SB/ 23.6 K%/ 7.8 BB%
2024 Stats (AFL): .306 AVG/ .438 OBP/ .449 SLG/ 2 HR/ 2 SB/ 21.5 K%/ 18.2 BB%

Osuna is a smaller guy (5’9″, 185 lbs) but was ultra-productive in a mini breakout this season. In addition to an outstanding regular season, Osuna performed well in the AFL. Given his feel for hitting and improving power, he could get a look with the Rangers by season’s end.

13) Malcolm Moore, C

2024 Stats (A+): .209 AVG/ .298 OBP/ .374 SLG/ 3 HR/ 3 SB/ 27.9 K%/ 7.7 BB%

Originally drafted as a second-rounder in 2022, Moore opted to play collegiately at Stanford. The Rangers scooped him up at pick No. 30 in this year’s MLB Draft. Moore is an offense-first catcher with considerable contact and power skills, although he’s likely to move off the position long-term.

14) Yolfran Castillo, SS

2024 Stats (DSL, ROOKIE): .377 AVG/ .482 OBP/ .415 SLG/ 0 HR/ 10 SB/ 9.2 K%/ 16.6 BB%

Castillo will be a significant name to watch in 2025. The teenage shortstop is a slender 6’3″, 165 lbs, with room to grow. His speed is at least 60 grade, and the hit tool isn’t far behind. When Castillo taps into his power, we’re looking at a guy who could be a top-25 overall prospect.

15) Izack Tiger, SP

2024 Stats (ROOKIE, A, A+): 46 IP/ 59 K/ 30.9 K%/ 11.0 BB%

Tiger has one of the more exciting names in the minors! The 23-year-old is just finding his footing as a pro after being selected as a JuCo player from Butler Community College (KS). Tiger has a high-octane arsenal with three pitches that can reach 90 mph. However, his control is problematic and could force him into a bullpen role.

The Next Five

Although these prospects do not crack the top 15, dynasty managers should keep their eye on these five players.

Cameron Cauley, 3B – Cauley was a top 10 player out of TX as a prep but has struggled to hit for average as a pro. He does have plus speed, though, and has recently developed more power.

Braylin Morel, OF – Morel went unnoticed in the same class as Walcott, but the 18-year-old has produced a .327/.412/.613 slash line with 14 homers and steals in his first 88 games as a pro.

Aidan Curry, SP – It’s been a roller-coaster career early on for Curry, who sandwiched a dominant performance at Low-A in 2023 between two clunkers in 2022 and 2024.

Mitch Bratt, SP – Bratt, a Canadian-born left-hander, has flourished into a solid, high-floor arm built on above-average command and increased bat-missing ability. If he turns in another season like 2024 (110.1 IP/3.75 ERA), he should push himself into top 10 territory in the organization.

Anthony Gutierrez, OF – Gutierrez had a solid performance as an 18-year-old at Class A last season but couldn’t carry over his momentum in 2024. There are still tools there for Gutierrez, but he is pretty raw.
