Bets of the Day – June 14th

Kyle Stanzel highlights Monday's best bets around baseball.

Patrick Wisdom/Nick Castellanos to Record a Hit

We are tabbing two NL Central righties and two of the hottest hitters in baseball for our total hits prop. Minor league veteran Patrick Wisdom has been absolutely raking since debuting on May 25, slashing .327/.375/.827 with an astounding eight HRs. The 29-year old has always experienced success against LHP and he gets David Peterson on the mound, who gave up eight hits and four ER in just 2.2 IP against Baltimore in his last start.

Nick Castellanos has been one of the best hitters in baseball all season, including hitting for a .367 AVG over the last two weeks. LHP Eric Lauer is the projected starter for Milwaukee on Monday and he has allowed much harder contact to righties (48.2 HardHit%) than lefties (29.2 HardHit%) this season. You can get Castellanos for -300 and Wisdom for -145 on Fanduel, parlayed at +125 for an easy early hit Monday night.

Pick: Wisdom/Castellanos to Record a Hit (+125 FD)

Angels @ Athletics Run Line

Two of the hottest teams in baseball face off in an AL West showdown when the Angels travel to Oakland. The Angels have been mashing during their six-game win streak, averaging 7.67 runs per game, while the A’s have utilized effective pitching and timely hitting in winning five out of their last six. So we have an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object as the Angels lineup takes on Sean Manaea, who hasn’t allowed more than one run in any of his last four starts, which includes two starts against the Angels. While Manaea has been incredible, his mound opponent Dylan Bundy has really struggled this season, including allowing five hits and four ER against Oakland back on May 23rd. That is why I like Oakland’s chances to snap the Angels’ win streak here with a convincing win backed by a strong offensive performance from Matt Olson (.562 wOBA, 270 wRC+ over last two weeks) and company and another effective outing from Manaea.

Pick: Athletics -1.5 (+132 DK, +136 FD)

Phillies @ Dodgers Total Runs O/U 9.5

Spencer Howard vs Tony Gonsolin is an intriguing matchup between two promising young starters who have struggled with control this season. While Gonsolin has only one start on his ledger, he walked as many batters as he got out in 1.2 IP against a weak Pittsburgh lineup on Wednesday. Howard has shown effectiveness at times in starts, but he has also allowed nine walks in just 9.1 IP in his last three starts. The Phillies offense has really started to heat up lately, with Andrew McCutchen, Jean Segura, Odúbel Herrera, and J.T. Realmuto landing in the top 30 in MLB in wOBA over the last two weeks. The Dodgers themselves have a .343 wOBA and 122 wRC+ over the last two weeks. Two pitchers with control issues and two hot offenses means I’m loving the over out in Chavez Ravine tonight.

Pick: OVER 9.5 (+100 DK, -105 FD)
