Every morning we review the nastiest pitches from the previous day’s games in glorious HD GIFs. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite pitch and check back this weekend to see if it will be in contention for the GIF of the First Half Contest. Did we miss your favorite pitch? Send us a tweet next time @ThePitcherList and we’ll GIF it up + give you a shoutout here in the article.

Brad Peacock’s Slider – Peacock has been a grim reaper for righties his whole career, and his Slider is a big reason why. Any pitch that starts in the strike zone and then ends up in the opposite batter’s box is go to be difficult to hit, as Adrian Beltre can attest.

Clayton Kershaw’s Curveball – I can’t remember a Kershaw start with as few as his 4 Ks last night, but he still pitched effectively and had all his pitches working. This Curveball to Edwin Encarnacion hits right on the black and leaves Edwin flummoxed.

Felipe Rivero’s Slider – Rivero regularly hits 100 MPH, and with hitters geared up for high velocity Rivero’s Slider leads to some bad looking swings. Here Carlos Gonzalez sees a Fastball on the outside third, but his bat hits only air as the pitch breaks far away from him.

Jacob Faria’s Changeup – Faria pitched very well last night getting 8 Ks by mixing location and velocity. This Changeup to Justin Smoak had ridiculous fading action to get the strikeout.

Andrew Miller’s Slider – Miller came up huge in a bases loaded, tie game situation to get Yasiel Puig to strike out to end the inning. His back-foot Slider is thrown with such great velocity that few hitters can hold up or make contact as the pitch leaves the strike zone.

Carlos Ruiz’s “Fastball” – This pitch is far from nasty, but we love it when position players get a chance to pitch especially one as beloved as veteran Carlos Ruiz. While only thrown 82 MPH and straight as an arrow, Chooch does hit the inside black to catch Kenny Vargas looking. Embarrassing for Vargas, and he has the hubris to argue with the ump afterward.
