DFS Primer – June 11

Gus Elmashni breaks down the DFS slate for Saturday.

Welcome to the Saturday edition of the DFS Primer! We will have to get right down to business since yours truly is hosting a family reunion today with nearly 40 people in my backyard! I sure stay busy on these weekends!

As I have done in my previous DFS articles, I will share a table displaying rankings of the pitchers on today’s main slate using six metrics. Here are those metrics.

1) Barrel rate allowed.

2) Percent hard-hit contact allowed.

3) Expected wOBA allowed.

4) Expected ERA.

5) Flyball to groundball ratio.

6) Strike out to bases on ball ratio.

Using such analysis will help you identify the best value for pitchers and determine which stacks to build. Here is the table analyzing all of the starting pitchers for the main slate today.

As you can see, Clayton Kershaw is at the top of the list but it is his first start in quite some time. For today, it makes sense to pay up for pitching given that the aces on the mound today can dominate. You really can’t go wrong with Kevin Gausman, Zach Wheeler, or Framber Valdez. I would probably lean more towards Valdez since I also like the offenses supporting Gausman and Wheeler.

Nothing wrong with a roster build using the pitcher and stack from the same team but if you are playing on FanDuel, you will need to find a one-off and another stack from two other teams. However, no issues with such a build on DraftKings. I wonder when FanDuel will change!

If we roll with Valdez, then start building your stacks with Toronto and Philadelphia. Both offenses are red hot and they face the bottom five pitchers according to the table above. You will have to find some value pieces but make sure the core of each stack is on your team. Here’s looking at you Vladimir Guerrero and Bryce Harper! Do us right today!

Here are some sample lineups for the games that start at 1:05 PM PT.

P: F. Valdez

C: A. Kirk
1B: V. Guerrero
2B: C. Biggio
3B: A. Bohm
