Pitcher List is proud to partner with DraftKings for the 2019 season. We’ll be featuring our top picks for every daily slate throughout the season and feature articles dedicated to the GPP.
We’ve got a great day of baseball ahead with multiple slates from which to choose on DraftKings. Games start at 12:35 p.m. eastern and run as late as 10:10 p.m., so there’s no way you can’t find the time for some contests.
Top SP: Shane Bieber ($9,300) at TEX
He may not be the most expensive pitcher on the board, but if the Biebs has everything working, then the return on investment will be more than enough. Coming off one of his best starts of the season, this will be the first time that anybody in the Texas lineup will see the young right-hander. Look for him to continue his success with that deadly slider (pVAL 8.2) and rack up the strikeouts.
Honorable Mention: Mike Minor ($8,900) vs. CLE.
Value SP: Framber Valdez ($7,100) at NYY
While the Yankees may be one of the hottest-hitting teams in baseball, Valdez is also one of the hottest pitchers going right now. In his past two starts, the lefty has racked up 15 strikeouts over 13 innings pitched while only allowing three runs. With one of the deadliest curveballs in the game, don’t let the Yankee lineup scare you away.
Honorable Mention: Zac Gallen ($7,300) at STL.
3B: Nolan Arenado ($5,100) at ARI (LHP Robbie Ray)
With 42 career plate appearances against Ray, I don’t think Arenado will see any surprises at the dish today. The Gold Glove third baseman is hitting .347 against the lefty in his career. Arenado not only excels vs. Ray but is also hitting .333 with a 1.132 OPS against left-handed pitchers this season. While his price point is very high, the return on investment should be worth it.
Honorable Mention: 3B/OF Kris Bryant ($5,000) vs. NYM (RHP Walker Lockett).
OF: Justin Upton ($4,200) at TOR (LHP Clayton Richard)
Upton has hit the ground running since his return from the IL, hitting two home runs in his first nine at-bats. The outfielder has 12 hits in just 27 at-bats throughout his career against Richard, along with a .741 slugging percentage and 1.241 OPS. Not to mention, hitting behind Tommy La Stella, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani has its benefits.
Honorable Mention: OF: Michael Conforto ($4,800) vs. CHI (RHP Tyler Chatwood).
Value Bat: OF: Ramon Laureano ($4,000) vs. TB (RHP Charlie Morton)
I’m fully aware of the season that Morton is putting together, but to win some serious money in DFS, you must make some high-risk, high-reward picks. Laureano is currently one of the hottest hitters in baseball, slashing .286/.324/.571 in June while swiping four bags in the process. With all of his power coming against right-handed pitchers, Lazor Ramon may be able to run into one today.
Honorable Mention: 1B/3B: Yuli Gurriel ($3,600) at NYY (RHP Chad Green).
Lineup Stack: Los Angeles Angels vs. TOR (LHP Clayton Richard)
The Angels offense really clicked last night with the G.O.A.T. Trout leading the way, and I don’t expect to see much different today. Vegas has this game as the highest over/under on the slate at 10.5 runs, and I can’t say I disagree. Like I mentioned earlier, with Upton back from injury, the Angels have a very tough top of the order.
Honorable Mention: Minnesota Twins vs. KC (RHP Glenn Sparkman).
