We’ve got two slates on FantasyDraft tonight – the main slate starts at 7:05 pm eastern and covers 14 games, with the late slate starting at 9:40 pm and covering four games.
Must Play SP: Corey Kluber, CLE ($20,300) vs CWS
There are a lot of top level pitching options you can choose from tonight, and Kluber is my favorite at his price. He had an uncharacteristic outing his last time out, lasting just 1 2/3 innings and allowing four earned runs. I’m not worried about this one start, though, as he’s still got a 2.91 ERA and a 2.80 Deserved Run Average this season. He’s also coming off of extra rest, which should only help. The White Sox have the second-highest K-rate in the league at 25.9% against righties, so Kluber can rack up points even if he doesn’t go super deep into his outing.
Honorable Mention: Clayton Kershaw, LAD ($22,200) vs COL
Value SP: Joey Lucchesi, SD ($14,700) vs SF
Lucchesi should have a strong start against the Giants, who are one of the worst lineups in the league with their .288 wOBA versus lefties. He also gets to face them at home in Petco Park, one of the best pitching environments in the league. As for Lucchesi himself, he’s got a solid 3.78 SIERA and a useful 25.4% K-rate. The 25-year-old is my favorite value play on Tuesday.
Honorable Mention: Josh James, HOU ($8,000) vs SEA
IF Daniel Murphy, CHC ($7,600) at ARI (RHP Matt Andriese)
Murphy is still mired in his September slump and no longer starts against left-handed pitching, but we can take advantage of his cheap price as he faces a righty. He’s still got a 124 wRC+ against right-handers in 2018 and will likely bat cleanup for the Cubs, a spot where he can drive in lots of runs. DBacks starter Matt Andriese has an awful 4.76 ERA with a 4.42 FIP, so he’s a pitcher you want to target.
Honorable Mention: IF Eugenio Suarez, CIN ($8,300) at MIL (Anderson)
OF Cedric Mullins, BAL ($8,200) vs TOR (RHP Aaron Sanchez)
Mullins gets most of his DFS value by simply batting leadoff for the Orioles. It gives him the opportunity to score runs when he gets on base, and maximizes his number of plate appearances against a weak starter in Aaron Sanchez. Sanchez has a 4.90 ERA, and Baltimore is a very hitter-friendly park.
Honorable Mention: OF Marcell Ozuna, STL ($8,400) at ATL (Sanchez)
Value: IF Kendrys Morales, TOR ($7,400) at BAL (RHP Dylan Bundy)
On the other side of the Jays-Orioles matchup, Morales will also get to enjoy one of the best parks for power hitters in Baltimore. He’s in an awesome spot batting third for the Jays where he can see both run and RBI opportunities. Dylan Bundy has a 5.48 ERA with a horrific 2.19 HR/9.
Honorable Mention: IF/OF Miguel Sano, MIN ($7,500) at DET (Norris)
Top Stack: Rays at Rangers (RHP Yovani Gallardo)
Yovani Gallardo is easily one of the worst pitchers in baseball with his 6.67 ERA, and the Rays bats are looking to tee off on him in one of the best hitter’s parks in the league. Mallex Smith ($8,700), Matt Duffy ($8,400), and Brandon Lowe ($7,400) are my favorites, but you can grab any Rays hitter that you can afford.
Honorable Mention: Yankees vs Blue Jays (Estrada)
