Today’s Headlines
Dodgers Don’t Respect Cy Youngs
The Los Angeles Dodgers were at it again last night, when they dismantled reigning Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes‘ resume by getting seven runs off six hits and two walks off him. The Dodgers are truly in a league of their own right now as they are 85-37. And what’s scarier? Based on their run differentials, their expected record is even better at 89-33. I don’t want to live in that universe where the Dodgers are even better than they are now.

It was not all roses on Tuesday for the Dodgers, however, as their ace pitcher Walker Buehler underwent his second Tommy John surgery. Recoveries on the second surgery may take longer, and will likely cause him to not return until 2024.
Justin Verlander…Underrated?
We have seen some massive contracts given to pitchers in the past few free agent years. Cole, Scherzer, Bauer—all got upwards of $35 million a year. While Verlander is not crying poverty with his $25 million this year, many pundits have kind of glossed over his Hall of Fame career of late and his late career dominance. But JV won’t allow it. Right now, he is the Cy Young favorite—maybe even the MVP—and last night, he continued to show why. He struck out 10, and allowed no hits through six innings pitched.
ICYMI Justin Verlander has the lowest ERA of any qualified pitcher in MLB this year. It's 1.92 at the moment. 🥹 https://t.co/ZNzmXFtrHe

Aaron Judge continues to dominate Taijuan Walker
Yesterday marked the fourth time Walker has allowed a homer against Judge. And this one wasn’t a home run Walker would forget anytime soon. Judge obliterated this ball 453 feet to give the Yankees the early lead and ultimate victory over the Mets.

Bryce Harper continues to recover
Harper continues his rehab in Triple-A, and all surrounding players hope he gets better soon as he continues to crush Triple-A pitching. Harper should return to the Phillies soon, making it an exciting finish to the NL Wild Card race.

Verlander allowed no hits and the only thing between him and being perfect through 6 was a WP/PB on a 3rd strike allowing the batter to reach. Dude is just sick right now
Another game like last night for Harper and they might just activate him tomorrow and not wait until next week. He sure looks ready. Only question is how his thumb reacts to playing in an actual game.
