Today’s Headlines
Baseball History
The Cardinals and Giants will be honored to play at the historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama on June 20, 2024. Take two minutes to listen to CC Sabathia and Harold Reynolds discuss the history and honor of the Negro Leagues. To tie into the significance of this announcement, it was shared on August 3, decades after Satchel Paige made his Major League debut on August 3, 1948.

Return Of The Max
Atlanta’s ace Max Fried will make his return to the rotation today after nearly three months away. Fried was sidelined after his fifth start of the season with a strained left forearm that kept him on the injured list since May 5. Fried is especially excited to return for a weekend series at Wrigley Field where he will face his former teammate Dansby Swanson.
Max Fried is starting Friday. We repeat. Max Fried is starting Friday🔊

Spreading Wings With A New Team
Jack Flaherty made his debut in an Orioles uniform yesterday against division rivals, the Blue Jays. He had a respectable outing, pitching six innings while only allowing one run on four hits and a walk. Flaherty also fanned eight batters to help the Orioles extend their lead to two games over the stagnant Rays.

The Dodgers Era
Players and coaching staff were asked about their favorite Taylor Swift song as the singer wraps up her first leg of the tour in Los Angeles this weekend. I’m sure you can guess what song Kershaw loves.

Injuries
Joe Ryan has been placed on the injured list with a left groin strain.
Anthony Rizzo has finally been placed on the injured list after suffering from fogginess and slower reaction times. This likely stems from a concussion suffered from a collision in May.
Shane McClanahan exited a start on Wednesday with tightness outside his left forearm. Yesterday he returned to Tampa for further testing and has been placed on the 15-day injured list.
José Urquidy is tentatively scheduled to return to the Astros’ rotation on Sunday.
J.D. Martinez is expected to return to the lineup on Saturday. Dave Roberts also noted Clayton Kershaw is on track to return next week.
Brandon Woodruff is expected to return to the Brewers’ rotation Sunday.
