Today’s Headlines

J-Ram records 250th career home run

The Guardians remain atop the AL Central and José Ramírez continues to be one of the main reasons why. Ramírez’s solo shot on Sunday afternoon was his 34th home run of the season and the 250th of his career. He joins 20 other active players with at least 250 career home runs.

With Cleveland’s 6-1 win over the Pirates on Sunday, they hold a 3.5 game lead in their division. Thanks to the clutchness of Royce Lewis, the Twins took two of three from the Blue Jays and sit 3.5 games back. Meanwhile, the Royals are also 3.5 games back after getting swept (mopped?) by the Astros.

D-Backs crush Dodgers, pick up a game in the NL West

The Diamondbacks have cooled off since their recent six game win streak, but not because they weren’t scoring runs. Facing the division rival Dodgers, the Diamondbacks put up 9 runs on Friday and 6 on Saturday but walked away with 2 Ls. Needing a win on Sunday, they came out swinging early.

Randal Grichuk powered an 8-run second inning for the Diamondbacks. He led off with a double and scored the game’s first run. Hits from six different players helped Arizona bat around in the second inning, bringing Grichuk back up to the plate. He hit a 3-run homer, giving the D-Backs an 8-run lead.

Brandon Pfaadt held it down from there, holding the Dodgers to 3 runs over 5 2/3 innings and striking out 10.

A home run for Margo

Jerseys around baseball had little yellow ribbons on them in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on Sunday. The Phillies did something really cool to celebrate a young fan who beat cancer. They invited 6-year-old Margo to run around the babes and high five all the players as she trotted around the diamond.

Hi Barbie! 💖

The Twins had a Barbie themed day on Sunday and Royce Lewis brought the Ken-ergy with his 8th inning, go-ahead home run.

And how are the Twins going to celebrate their big win? As any Barbie would!
