Red Hot Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays got their 13th consecutive win on Thursday, tying the 1987 Milwaukee Brewers team and Atlanta’s team in 1982. The Rays can break the record tonight in Toronto. However, the Rays have to win 21 consecutive games in order to hold the all-time record. The 1884 St. Louis Maroons currently hold the all-time record after starting that season with 20 consecutive wins.

Top Prospect Makes History

It’s not every day that you get your Major League hit AND home run in the same inning. Edouard Julien, a top prospect for the Twins did just that. Julien is the fourth player since 1974 that has collected their first hit and first career home run in the same inning. Prior to Julien’s milestone, Aramis Garcia was the last to do it for the Giants in 2018.

 

Speaking Of The Twins

The Twins defeated the Yankees 11-2 after an exciting first inning. The Twins scored nine runs in the first inning — the highest-scoring frame in club history against the Yankees.

 

Historic Streak Ends

Jordan Walker’s hitting streak ended at 12 games after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. The Cardinals lost 5-0 against the Pirates. The rookie tied the record for the longest hitting streak at the start of a career by a player aged 20 or younger. Eddie Murphy had previously set the record in 1912.

 

The O’s Made A Move

Veteran lefty Cole Irvin has been optioned by the Orioles. This came after allowing six earned runs on five hits over four innings against the A’s.

 

Best Moments From Yesterday

Big Time Rutsch

Superstar Adley Rutschman ended a 7-7 tie with the A’s with a walk-off home run. Rutschman has had a historic start to the season with a .373 average.

 

Miggy’s Farewell Tour

Miguel Cabrera continues to be celebrated, this time in Toronto. Ahead of the game, Cabrera was gifted framed photos from his 500th career home run that took place in Toronto.

Brandon Lowe collected his fifth homer in his last six games, this time against the Red Sox.

Bobby Witt Jr. hit a foul ball into a suite, and it happened to make it into the hands of his dad, Bobby Witt Sr.
