Big Papi Talks Hall and Ball
One of the most loved players amongst all of baseball’s modern generation, David Ortiz spoke on Sunday of his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. The love for the game and the people who love it was real.
"It felt like the whole city and New England and each one and every one of you was surrounding and was showing me all your love."

Yes, the sight of New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom throwing in the outfield at Citi Field prior to Sunday Night Baseball against the Padres was one that brought joy to many across New York and fantasy baseball.

The plan for deGrom’s return to the Big Show is unconfirmed and the Mets’ ace will need at least the one more rehab start before he’s ready to rejoin the rotation for his season debut. deGrom has been out with a stress reaction in his right scapula since the start of the season.

Taking Trophies to New Heights
When it comes to accolades and trophies, there has been every iteration since the dawn of time. The minor league outfits at Tulsa and Wichita, however, have taken it to a whole new level…like, above the ceiling level!
Double-A Tulsa and Wichita began an official rivalry with a unique trophy last year, with the winner of the season series getting to keep the propeller ("due to Wichita and Tulsa’s place in the airline industry") at their stadium until next season

“I’m Gonna Whoop You!”
The best highlight from Big Papi’s speech, this story about an exchange with Dustin Pedroia was golden.

Injuries
All-Star Game MVP Giancarlo Stanton was absent once again from the Yankees lineup and for the third time in five games after manager Aaron Boone said he was “a little exhausted going into the break.” He is expected to be in the lineup on July 26 against the Mets.
Royals young superstar Bobby Witt Jr. left Sunday afternoon’s series finale against the Rays with right hamstring tightness and he’s considered day to day.
Mariners outfielder Jesse Winker was removed from the game against the Astros after a nasty collision near first base with shortstop Jeremy Peña. The club stated it is likely a left ankle sprain and Winker could miss time once again.
The Cardinals’ worst fears were realized after an MRI confirmed starter Steven Matz suffered a left MCL tear after being removed from his first start back from the injured list. He’ll likely miss the rest of the season.
