Sit/Start Week 2: Reviewing All Starting Pitcher Matchups From 4/8 – 4/14

Lucas Zenobi scores every starting pitcher matchup for the week ahead.

Welcome back to Sit/Start, where we review all expected starting pitcher matchups for the week ahead. I will be carrying over the ranking system from last year. There are three labels: StartMaybe, and Sit.

Starts are surefire starts for those particular pitchers. This does not mean that they are incapable of having a bad outing, but I consider them more likely than not to have a good outing if they are designated as a Start. However, the degree of confidence I have in a pitcher to have a strong outing is judged by their number in the tier. For example, I am much more confident that a Start-10 will have a good outing than a Start-7, even though I expect both to perform well. The same goes for the other tiers.

Maybes are starts that are a bit riskier, but depending on your league size or roster requirements, they may need to be used. A Start-10 is a pitcher who I believe will almost definitely have a strong outing: For example, a healthy and undeniable ace against a poor offensive team is going to be a Start-10. A Sit-1 is a pitcher who, under no circumstances, should you consider starting.

There are actually some really solid streaming options available this week. With that being said, you should be able to find enough to fill out a rotation this week with at least a decent amount of confidence. Embrace these weeks, because it’s not always like this.

For some housekeeping, I will try my best to update these at least once after they go live, but there is a ton of schedule and rotation shuffling. I apologize ahead of time if something is not currently in the table below.

Without further ado, let’s see how your rotation is shaping up for this week. Feel free to question my rankings in the comments, and let’s discuss!

What’s your thoughts on the order with today’s MIN/CLE rainouts.

Thanks for commenting! Just updated the table to reflect the updated rotations for the week for them.

You uploaded this 6 hours ago and you have Spencer Strider as a “Start-8?” Should we trust that the same level of thought went into the rest of these?

    • Lucas Zenobi says:

Apologies for this. We submit these a little bit in advance of the publish time, so the news had come out shortly after I submitted these. I have updated the table now to reflect the change.

  3. Albino Skunk says:

I’m going to say it’s probably unwise to start Spencer Strider on Wednesday, now that he’s on the IL.

  4. Kyle Bock says:

Looks like Sonny Gray is scheduled to pitch on Tuesday against the Phillies. Any interest?

  5. Brooke says:

What about starting Whitlock today? You don’t have him listed on Thursday but he’s starting.
