Trevor Williams‘ Changeup
Overall, Williams’ changeup is subpar, with just a 19th percentile SwStr%, 2nd percentile CSW%, and 17th percentile ICR. However, it does have an 83rd-percentile extension. Pair that with a good location like this and you get a whiff.
Eduardo Salazar’s Sinker
Salazar is fortunate to have a 1.69 ERA because the rest of his numbers don’t match up with that. This sinker gets great Total Break and is perfectly located. Even if the batter had not offered, it might’ve been a called strike.
Nick Martinez’s Changeup
Nick Martinez’s changeup has been great this year. 94th percentile O-Swing%, 94th percentile SwStr%, and 86th percentile PLV. He had several nice ones tonight, but I thought this was the best.
José Berríos‘ Curveball
Berríos has always known how to spin it. His curve has 95th percentile horizontal break, contributing to 98th percentile PLV.
David Peterson’s Slider
Peterson has been great of late and this is a nasty slider to a great hitter. That arm angle and 90th-percentile Extension must make these sliders really hard to pick up.
Cristopher Sánchez’s Changeup
Sánchez has been a pleasant surprise this year and his changeup is a big reason why. 84th percentile SwStr%, 93rd percentile Str-ICR, and 90th percentile PLV.
Corbin Burnes‘ Slider
This slider from Burnes is perfectly placed and has wicked, late movement. He only throws it in the zone 28% of the time. Much easier said than done of course, but it’s best not to swing at it.
Corbin Burnes‘ Changeup
Oh yeah, he’s got a great changeup too. When he’s on, you have little chance.
Jacob deGrom’s Slider
I don’t need to say anything about deGrom’s stuff. Too bad this camera angle doesn’t do this slider justice. Oh, and he finished the day with a 142 Fan 4+.
Justin Martinez’s Splitter
Justin Martinez is quickly becoming one of the best relievers in the game. This splitter by itself would be devastating, but it’s all the more difficult because of the 100.2 mph sinker he throws.
