The 5 Best MLB Moments From Sunday

Another memorable day across baseball for us all to enjoy.

David Beats Goliath

In a rare Sunday Night Baseball appearance for the little Athletics, the ballclub in Oakland upstaged the Evil Empire and came away with the win over the Yankees thanks to a big hit from little man, Tony Kemp. Some great commentary to set up this two-run line-drive homer.

Kemp has been the perfect utility man for the Athletics over the past two years and boasts a 121 OPS+ in 2021. He also has one of the smoothest swings in the game.

There are no bigger hitters in the business than the Yankees, who are Sunday Night Baseball regulars. But the A’s are a wonderful team, with unsung heroes everywhere. Including young starter Paul Blackburn, who was making only his second start of the season.

And the game was closed out by the man who apparently has lived on a houseboat in the Bay Area since his move from Chicago, the magnificently mustached Andrew Chafin.

It was a wonderful night for baseball, and a win for the A’s just felt right.

Honey, I Shrunk The Kid! Oh, Wait!

I had to watch this twice just to make sure I wasn’t watching the classic Rick Moranis 80’s comedy “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” after being taken aback by the size of that baseball glove.

To be fair, he did have the best chance of catching a foul ball…from anywhere in the stadium.

Justin Turner In “The Coolest Position Player Pitching In Baseball”

The enigmatic Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Justin Turner was asked to make his first career appearance as a pitcher trailing by just five runs going into the ninth inning, such is the Dodgers bullpen’s state right now.

He did it in style, of course, wearing sunglasses and keeping the Rockies at bay in the ninth inning. He was certainly much cooler than Austin Slater.

Baseball Is Performance Art

We all love baseball for multivarious reasons. And our friends in Europe appreciate the finer arts, of course. Enjoy as we perform Sunday’s baseball in four parts…
