Following up on our weekly Closers and Holds articles will be our Top 100 RP’s for SV+HD leagues every Friday. Use this list to get a feel for the current reliever market and to gauge value for trades, waiver adds, etc. Keep in mind, holds are much more volatile and harder to predict. We’ve only seen one season from a pitcher with more than 30 holds since 2016, while 26 closers have gone over 30 saves in that same timeframe.
NOTES
- We welcome back Kenley Jansen, Chaz Roe and Hunter Strickland to the list, as well as newcomers Carlos Martinez, Ryan Brasier and Adam Warren. Falling off the list we have Brad Ziegler, Will Harris, Jerry Blevins, Addison Reed, Joe Kelly and Aroldis Chapman due to his knee injury.
- The closer situation in Philadelphia is one to keep an eye on going forward. While Seranthony Dominguez, for the most part, has been dominating the 9th inning, it seems like he may have hit a wall recently, with an ERA up over 4 this past month as while as a rising WHIP. Pat Neshek was used in a save situation yesterday and could continue to see save chances going forward.
- No one got to 4 this week, but we did have 13 relievers pick up 3 SV+HD’s. Jonny Venters was the lone name that’s not in the top 100 right now, but he is right on the bubble as of now and if he’s able to put together another good week, should crack the list.
Jose Alvarado has outperformed most RPs above him on this list. In terms of HLD, occasional SV and peripherals I am not sure why he wouldn’t be in the top 15. Give me Alvarado over Rondon, Inglesias, W Smith all day.
