Stay updated on everything baseball with our morning MLB News & Moments articles. We’ve got you covered to keep you in the know.
Every World Series is special in its own way. Sometimes you get an all-timer like we had in 2025 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays. Sometimes there are Cinderella runs like the 2019 Washington Nationals. Then you get one like 2026, where the Milwaukee Brewers backed up a tremendous regular season by capping a pretty dominant postseason run with the franchise’s first World Series title.
Thanks to everyone who has followed MLB News & Moments for another year. Not sure what next year looks like, but stay tuned at Pitcher List for some of the best fantasy advice (and some news) you will find.

World Series Wrapup
BREWERS COMPLETE JOURNEY TO 1ST TITLE
The small-market team that everyone doubted even after putting up the best record in MLB the last two years did what those on the outside didn’t think it could: win the World Series. Behind ace right-hander Jacob Misiorowski’s 5⅔ shutout innings and two RBIs from rookie Cooper Pratt, the Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 of the World Series. In earning their first title in the 58-year history of the franchise that started as the Seattle Pilots in 1969, the Brewers won the series 4-1 and completed their postseason 11-2 following a 103-win regular season and a sweep of the two-time defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL Championship Series. They beat the San Diego Padres, who had the fifth-best record in MLB, then the Dodgers, who had the second-best record in MLB, and finally the AL champion Rays, who had the third-best record.
The Brewers’ brand of ball is typical of what is played in 2026. They hit a grand total of three homers in the World Series, all from the bottom three spots in the lineup. While they didn’t hit a lot of homers in the regular season, finishing 29th out of 30 teams, they did know when to hit them. All three either tied the game in key situations or put the Crew ahead.
After the Rays pulled off a stunning 12-inning victory to avoid being swept in Game 4, the Brewers bounced back as they have done all season. Pratt, who led the Brewers with seven RBIs in the World Series from the No. 7 spot in the order, had an RBI single in the second inning, then No. 9 hitter David Hamilton singled home Pratt in the fifth to make it 2-0. In the sixth, World Series MVP William Contreras doubled home Christian Yelich and scored on Pratt’s sacrifice fly.
Meanwhile, Misiorowski, the presumptive NL Cy Young Award winner, was the dominant Miz of the regular season, showing more of a pitcher’s approach than a thrower’s in the clincher. Misiorowski completed his first full season by allowing two hits over 5⅔ innings, striking out a season-low two and walking one. But he was in control throughout until a cramp KO’d him in the sixth. Left-hander JoJo Romero and right-hander Abner Uribe each got two outs, handing the ball to right-handed closer Trevor Megill, who had taken a backseat to Aaron Ashby during this postseason. Megill went the final two innings, striking out three and getting Richie Palacios to hit a grounder to second baseman Brice Turang, who then threw to Jake Bauers to notch the final out. The Brewers are champions.

3 Contreras, Jackson Chourio and Antonio Senzatela won the World Baseball Classic with Venezuela and then the World Series. That trio is the second group to do that, joining Alex Bregman and Luke Gregerson (U.S., Houston Astros) in 2017.
7 Cooper Pratt’s seven RBIs in the World Series are tied for the most by a rookie with Gil McDougald of the New York Yankees in 1951.
