Spring Breakout games seem to be when the dynasty hype enters full steam. Already, dynasty players spend all spring training forming opinions about prospects based off of a minuscule sample size. Now, with the Spring Breakout games, the pressure for these prospects is amplified. While irrational to use these games to draw conclusions, they are extremely entertaining and give regular baseball fans a glimpse into each team’s future. In case you missed yesterday’s games, don’t worry, we at Pitcher List have you covered. Keep reading for the full breakdown of the action from yesterday’s action.

Spring Training Breakout Games Day 2
Kansas City Royals @ Texas Rangers
What We Saw From The Top Prospects From Each Team:
The Royals top prospect to participate in the Spring Breakout game was exciting right-handed pitcher Kendry Chourio. Signed out of Venezuela last January, Chourio has wasted no time making a name for himself. He made quick work of both the DSL and Complex League before finishing the season in Low-A.
Yesterday’s game was our first live look at him in 2026. Chourio pitched two innings of scoreless ball with three strikeouts. Chourio threw his fastball 57% of the time, but he commanded it well, and was simply better than opposing hitters. He is only 18 years old and has elite potential.
This section would have been about Sebastian Walcott if not for his injury. So, instead we shift our attention to Yolfran Castillo. The 19-year-old shortstop has shown off good contact skills and plus speed, but has yet to turn his 6’2″ frame into any game power at the professional level. Unfortunately, we did not get much insight into the off-season changes for Castillo. He went 0/1 with a groundout and a HBP. Castillo has significant dynasty potential but needs to get to more game power to see that potential come to life.
Which Prospects Struggled:
One player that there was some off-season buzz around was Ramon Ramirez. The catching prospect for Kansas City got the start and went 0/3. The concerning part for Ramirez was the two strikeouts. Ramirez has not posted concerning strikeout rates throughout his professional career, but his swinging-strike rate was higher than it should be. Ramirez was not particularly fooled by anything, but his timing was off. His Spring Breakout performance was disappointing.
The Rangers picked Malcolm Moore 30th overall in 2024. Moore struggled immensely in his first professional season batting .195 with a 77 wRC+. Moore struggled again in the Spring Breakout game going 0/2 with two strikeouts. Moore’s bat may never live up to the expectations of being a first round pick. The only bright side was a perfect throw on a caught stealing defensively. Based on his offensive production, Moore’s glove will need to carry him to the major leagues.
Which Prospects Stood Out the Most:
The Royals’ starter, Justin Lamkin really stood out. Lamkin was the 71st overall pick in last year’s draft out of Texas A&M. In three innings, Lamkin struck out six while allowing zero runs and one walk. Lamkin’s dynasty outlook is likely capped being a sinker heavy pitcher. However, he is an extremely tough at-bat for a lefty and his slider generated a whiff rate of 89%. Lamkin is not likely to turn into an elite dynasty prospect, but he put his name firmly on dynasty radars with this Spring Breakout performance.
The Rangers did not have a lot of stand-out performances, but Aidan Curry looked strong in two innings of relief. Curry was an undrafted free agent back in 2020 and has posted strong strikeout rates throughout his professional career. Control has been his biggest issue up to this point. In yesterday’s start, his fastball sat around 97 mph with 17″ of iVB and a 50% whiff rate. While his control was still sporadic, Curry struck out two and walked zero in his Spring Breakout performance.
Seattle Mariners @ Milwaukee Brewers
What We Saw From The Top Prospects From Each Team:
As one of the deepest farm systems in baseball, there were a lot of top prospects to pick from on the Seattle side. Ultimately, Colt Emerson is the name to highlight here. The 2023 first round pick has all the makings of a potential star and could make his major league debut as early as 2026. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing. Emerson went 0/3 with a strikeout. Ground balls were a slight concern early in his career and he had two ground-ball outs yesterday. This should not be an issue moving forward, but Friday was not Emerson’s best showing. He still should be considered an elite dynasty asset.
Milwaukee is one of the few farm systems that rivals Seattle’s. Fans were given an opportunity to see top prospect Jesús Made play in yesterday’s game. In yesterday’s Spring Breakout game, Made went 1/2 with a walk. Against a tough lefty in Kade Anderson, Made worked a nice walk and hit a 104.7 mph single. While he did not make a splash with any home runs, it was a great showing for Made’s mature approach at the dish. Made has star potential, but dynasty managers will want to see more in the home run department in 2026.
Which Prospects Struggled:
The performances by two of the team’s top pitching prospects were disappointing. To be fair, Milwaukee and Seattle have two excellent farm systems, but Kade Anderson and Bishop Letson struggled.
Anderson in particular had a rough outing. The abundance of Stuff+ models have called into question Anderson’s fastball shape and this showed on Friday. Anderson gave up four earned runs in just two innings. He walked four and when he through it in the zone, he gave up hard contact. Anderson should still be considered a top prospect, but maybe he is less of a finished product than many assumed coming out of college.
The hype around Letson has also jumped to new levels this off-season. He did not pitch poorly across 1.1 innings on Friday. He gave up three hits and only one run, but he seemed to lack much command over his arsenal. He relied heavily on his cutter and sinker while failing to generate a whiff on his slider. Consistent command has been his biggest issue since being drafted and will be something to watch in 2026.
Which Prospects Stood Out the Most:
Luis Peña has been in and out of Jesús Made conversations over the past year. Made ranked a couple of tiers below Made in the 2026 Prospect List, but he is off to a strong start to this season. While it was not much, Made did go 1/4 with a home run in yesterday’s Spring Breakout game.
In a similar sense to Made, the biggest thing dynasty managers needed to see was more consistent power production. Friday’s performance was a step in the right direction. He hit a 90.7 mph ground out and a 104.7 mph home run off of top pitching prospect Kade Anderson. Pena has all the talent to be an elite prospect. Hopefully, we see more of this throughout the 2026 season.
The fact that Lazaro Montes went 3/3 with zero strikeouts is worth noting. The common perception is that the wheels are bound to fall off for Montes as he works his way through Seattle’s minor league system. Well, that has not happened yet, and it did not happen in Friday’s Spring Breakout game. Montes did not hit the ball particularly hard all day, but the fact he was able to avoid any strikeouts against popular breakout candidate Bishop Letson speaks volumes. Hopefully, this was a sign of things to come this season.
Boston Red Sox @ Baltimore Orioles
What We Saw From The Top Prospects From Each Team:
For Boston, it was a coin flip between Kyson Witherspoon and Franklin Arias. Ultimately, getting actual pitch data from Kyson Witherspoon earned him the spot. After being drafted in the first round last year, Witherspoon went straight to Driveline to develop another pitch. Witherspoon pitched well on Friday striking out two in 1.2 innings. He showed strong command of his fastball, slider, and cutter. The biggest thing missing was a true pitch to attack lefties with. He only threw two changeups and will need to find more consistency with that pitch to find professional success.
Baltimore’s farm system may not be as loaded as it once was, but there were still plenty of notable prospects participating in yesterday’s Spring Breakout game. While there is debate over who the team’s top prospect in this game was, the prospect I was most excited to see was first-round pick Wehiwa Aloy. The performance was disappointing. Aloy went 0/3 with two strikeouts. He was overmatched by Jake Bennet in his first at-bat and a Kyson Witherspoon changeup in his third. The power/speed combination is enough to get dynasty managers excited, but he needs to hit enough to gain dynasty relevance in the future.
Which Prospects Struggled:
There has been a lot of hype around Justin Gonzales over the off-season. Boston’s first base prospect struggled on Friday. At the dish, he went 0/4 with three strikeouts. Gonzales has showed off strong exit velocities, but his hit tool is suspect. He struggled to make consistent contact following a promotion to High-A and struggled with that again on Friday. Gonzales swung and missed or fouled it seven times on Friday. There is a lot of risk in his profile.
The real struggle was Wehiwa Aloy, but we already hit on him. So, let’s talk about Aron Estrada. Estrada is another name with buzz this off-season. The issue with that is a lack of power projection. Friday did not assuage those concerns. Estrada went 0/3 but more concerningly, he grounded out in all three at-bats. With a smaller frame, Estrada needs to maximize his fly balls to reach dynasty relevance. He did not show signs of this in Friday’s Spring Breakout game.
Which Prospects Stood Out the Most:
The stuff is still questionable, but Joseph Dzierwa had an outstanding performance. Dzierwa pitched three scoreless innings and struck out eight of the ten batters he faced. Dzierwa was a second round pick in 2025 out of Michigan State and put together quite the breakout performance on Friday. The lefty is mostly sinker, changeup, but his unique delivery angle creates deception that makes it difficult for batters to handle. He is at least worth keeping tabs on as the 2026 season starts.
One inning is difficult to make a name for yourself in, but Anthony Eyanson did. The Eyanson hype has started to catch steam for a couple of weeks now, but Friday’s performance cemented it. Eyanson struck out the side in his lone inning of work sitting 99 on his fastball. This and his high 80s slider give him two plus pitches to work with. If he can maintain this velocity over a starter’s workload, he will become a significant dynasty asset.
Detroit Tigers @ Pittsburgh Pirates
What We Saw From The Top Prospects From Each Team:
With Kevin McGonigle still in major league camp, there was not much debate over who the team’s top prospect playing was. Max Clark is one of the game’s top outfield prospects and is the highlight player to hit on from yesterday’s Spring Breakout game. Clark was clearly mind-blown by Seth Hernandez’s 102 mph fastball, but he wound up working a walk off of the Pirates’ top pitching prospect. The rest of the game was fairly disappointing as Clark went 0/3, continuing what has been a rough spring for the top prospect.
We did not get to see McGonigle, but dynasty managers did get another chance to see Konnor Griffin. Griffin is still in contention for an Opening Day roster spot and is undoubtedly the top prospect in baseball. While Griffin has had a great spring, he struggled to get anything going on Friday. He went 0/2 with two strikeouts and a HBP. While a disappointing performance, this is no indictment on Griffin’s overall talent.
Which Prospects Struggled:
Zander Mueth really struggled for Pittsburgh. Mueth was picked 67th overall in the 2023 draft and has yet to find his footing at the professional level. The 20 year old righty lasted just 0.1 innings, giving up four runs, three hits, and two walks. He failed to strike out a batter. Although his fastball sat in the mid-90s, he struggled to throw strikes. When he did come over the plate, the pitches were easily hit. Not an inspiring performance for Mueth.
The real struggle was Max Clark going 0/3. However, prospect Hayden Minton also struggled in his lone-inning of work. The 25 year-old right hander gave up five runs in one inning of work. A ninth-round pick from 2023, Minton has not generated much dynasty buzz and his performance on Friday will not change that. His fastball sat in the low-to-mid-90s and he is not worth much attention in dynasty leagues.
Which Prospects Stood Out the Most:
Easton Carmichael, the Pirates third round pick from 2025 had a great game. Carmichael got the start at catcher and went 2/2 with a home run in the contest. His home run came off the bat at 104.5 mph off of a low-90s fastball. Carmichael hit 17 home runs in his final season at Oklahoma University and could turn into an intriguing dynasty prospect for Pittsburgh. His performance on Friday is worth keeping an eye on moving forward.
The paragraph here should be a Tigers prospect, but Seth Hernandez is also worth talking about. Hernandez got the start for Pittsburgh, and threw a scoreless first inning. The performance was so-so. He struck out one, and walked two. However, his fastball sat at over 100 mph and generated over 16″ of iVB. He also mixed in a changeup and curveball which both generated above-average Stuff+ grades. Hernandez could rise quickly up prospect ranks and turn into an elite dynasty asset.
