AJ Ewing Impresses in Debut — Fantasy Hitting Recap 5/12/2026

Breaking down Tuesday's notable hitting performances.

The AJ Agenda

A.J. Ewing (NYM): 1-2, 3B, 2 R, 2 RBI, 3 BB, SB.

Ewing smacked a 104.2 mph triple for his first career major league hit yesterday. He also registered an EV of 102.3 mph flyout earlier in the game. The 21-year-old was also able to draw three walks. Three!

Ewing has been sensational between thirty games in Double-A and Triple-A this season, slashing .339/.447/.514 with a 156 wRC+ and more walks (22) than strikeouts (20). He’s also a stolen base machine, registering a whopping 70 swiped bags last season… he’s already up to 18 bags between 31 total games this year.

If you need a sparkplug in your fantasy lineup, Ewing can very easily be that guy. He’s got such an intriguing toolset you can’t pass up on.

Let’s see how the other hitters did Tuesday…

Randy Arozarena (SEA): 4-4, 2 2B, HR, 4 R, 3 RBI, SB.

Arozarena absolutely popped off against Houston’s pitching staff, tallying four hits (three for extra bases) — two of which showcased 100+ mph EVs. The 31-year-old is slashing .303/.389/.465 with a 148 wRC+. His OPS is his highest mark since 2020, and he has finished six consecutive games with a knock, sporting a 280 wRC+ over that span.

Daylen Lile (WSN): 3-5, 2 HR, 2 R, 4 RBI.

Lile was torching baseballs left and right yesterday, registering 100+ mph EVs on all of his hits. He started his day off with a 106.7 EV single, then launched home runs in back-to-back plate appearances. His first bomb was a 105.7 EV / 415 FT shot, and the next showcased a 109.2 EV and traveled 429 FT. Both homers were gone in 30 of 30 parks.

Eric Haase (SFG): 2-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI.

Haase was another standout performer who launched two home runs that were nearly identical. Both came off Yoshinobu Yamamoto, registered 102 EVs, and were less than 10 feet off in travel distance (383 and 392 FT, respectively). He’s got a 210 wRC+ through six games this year.

Ezequiel Duran (TEX): 2-3, HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, BB.

Duran has been such a quality addition to any fantasy manager’s lineup via the waiver wire, slashing .296/.369/.480 with a 139 wRC+. His OPS has skyrocketed over three hundred points compared to the year prior. He got a bit of BABIP help yesterday, turning in a 92.4 EV home run and an 83.7 EV single.

JJ Wetherholt (STL): 2-4, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB.

The rookie standout smoked a 98.3 EV / 380 FT home run (29/30 parks) and later tallied an 88 EV single versus the Athletics. He’s rocking a .357 xwOBA 126 wRC+ through his first 41 games in the majors.

Dominic Canzone (SEA): 1-4, HR, R, 5 RBI.

Canzone was one of my position player breakout picks heading into 2026. He’s sporting a .256/.320/.477 slash line with a quality .362 xwOBA and 126 wRC+. He’s due for significantly more production, underperforming compared to all of his xStats.

Ryan Vilade (TBR): 2-4, 2B, HR, R, RBI, BB.

Vilade has completely changed his ways with Tampa Bay, slashing .281/.339/.439 with a 118 wRC+ — a mark that’s double his career average. He tallied a double against Patrick Corbin, then smacked a 102.5 EV / 390 FT home run. The Rays keep Rays-ing…

Miguel Andujar (SDP): 2-4, 2B, HR, R, 2 RBI.

Andujar has been a hitting machine in San Diego this year, sporting a .292 average with an .809 OPS and a solid 129 wRC+. He produced two 100+ EVs yesterday — a 100.8 EV / 405 FT home run and a 103.9 EV double.

Joey Ortiz (MIL): 2-3, HR, R, 2 RBI.

Ortiz took knuckleballer Matt Waldron deep in the third inning yesterday — a 97.4 EV / 395 FT shot — and later singled against Wandy Peralta. The 27-year-old has just a 45 wRC+ this year, but has been able to produce hits in three of his last four games.
