Best Bets of the Day – April 20th

Tim Speros (@TimmySperos) reveals his best bets for Wednesday!

Welcome to Best Bets, Wednesday edition. I’m your host, Tim Speros, but you can call me cousin Timmy. My goal for this article is to hit for the cycle. The four hits will start with a single, our most likely bet to hit according to the odds, and will finish with my Home Run call of the night, our most difficult bet to hit according to the odds. Grab your helmet, adjust your batting gloves if you’re wearing any, and step up to the plate, it’s time to swing the bat. Ready to win some money? Let’s go.

Single

The biggest favorites today are the Brewers at -250 vs. Pittsburg however, the money line I like the most is the Washington Nationals over Arizona. Washington won both games of the doubleheader on Tuesday and will look to sweep the series today with Erick Fedde on the mound. Fedde was far from impressive in 2021 with a 5.47 ERA but showed promise at times, recording eight or more strikeouts in three of his final 10 starts. Through two games he’s struck out 11 batters in 10 innings. The Diamondbacks are last in batting average and have the third-highest K%. Although Merrill Kelly has pitched well so far, the Arizona bullpen ranks last in SIERA (4.84) and last in K% (14.8).  I’ll take the Nationals lineup over the D-backs anytime.

Double

The Padres look to sweep the Reds in the final game of the three-game series in San Diego. Manny Machado has started the season red hot, batting .365 with 3 HR and 5 doubles in his first 13 games.  Manny has a 43% hard contact rate and I don’t see that slowing down vs. Vladimir Gutierrez. Vladimir has surrendered 11 hard hits in 8 innings this season.

Triple

The Blue Jays are in Fenway Park to close out the series with the Red Sox. Nick Pivetta is on the mound for my Sox. Pivetta has walked 5 guys while giving up 3 HR and a .461 wOBA in two starts. George Springer, Bo Bichette, and Cavan Biggio are a combined 15-for-31 with 3 walks vs. Pivetta in their careers. A pretty good chance these guys get on base for Vlad today. Through 10 games, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has 10 RBI with a .421 ISO. I’ll take the plus odds on him putting some runs on the board.

Home Run

You made it. We are three bets in and ready for the call of the night. We’ve hit two homers in a row with massive ROIs. Who’s it going to be today?  Jorge Polanco! We are getting +440 odds on FanDuel for Jorge to tee off on Daniel Lynch and the Royals. In 2021 Polanco hit 24 of his 33 HR off LHP with a .241 ISO. Lynch has already given up 3 HR in just 5 innings of work this season.

There you have it folks, your third chance to hit for the cycle with me in 2022. If you rocked with me last time you won some major money.  Let’s keep the profit coming. Good luck tonight and I hope you win some beer money for the weekend. See you next time.
