Fantasy Baseball Daily Hitting Recap: 8/13/2025

Breaking down notable hitting performances from yesterday’s games.

Marsee’s Playground

Jakob Marsee (MIA): 4-5, 2 HR, 2B, 2 R, 7 RBI, SB.

Mama, this surely is a dream. Jakob Marsee has taken the world by storm since making his MLB debut a couple of weeks ago and had a career day in the Marlins’ 13-4 win over the Guardians, going four for five with two HRs, a whopping seven RBI, and his sixth stolen base. Miami’s eighth-best prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Marsee was acquired from San Diego in the 2024 Luis Arraez trade. The 24-year-old out of Central Michigan gets the most out of his solid all-around tools and plays the game like his hair is on fire. Casting devious stares in the direction of major league pitchers, Marsee is hitting .436/.542/.872 over his first 13 games in the big leagues. Marsee has shown modest power in the Minors, and he now has a career-high 17 HRs this season across Triple-A and the majors, but he really shines on the basepaths, where he is now up to 53 stolen bases across both levels this season after swiping 51 bags in 2024. The Marlins have proven to be a feisty team in the vaunted NL East this season, and I wouldn’t blame you for riding the hot hand and snagging Marsee off your waiver wire in fantasy.

Let’s see how the other hitters did on Wednesday:

Bryan Reynolds (PIT): 3-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 5 RBI, BB.

Bryan Reynolds did all he could to keep the Pirates in the game against the white-hot Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, but even his two HR, five RBI performance couldn’t keep Pittsburgh from getting swept in a 12-5 rout. Overall, it has been a disappointing season for the two-time All-Star, but a strong last month and a half from Reynolds would be big for his confidence and the Pirates’ going into 2026.

Sal Frelick (MIL): 2-3, 2B, 4 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB, SB.

Sal Frelick is just a straight-up dog on the baseball field, and he showcased why he is the perfect leadoff guy for this Brewers offense on Wednesday, scoring all four times he got on base. The 25-year-old is knocking on the door of .300 for the season and is hitting .340/.424/.500 over his last 15 games.

William Contreras (MIL): 2-3, 4 RBI, 2 BB.

One of the hotter hitters in baseball during this 12-game win streak for Milwaukee, Contreras knocked in four runs on Wednesday and is hitting .390/.486/.746 with six of his 12 HRs this season over his last 15 games.

Joey Ortiz (MIL): 2-3, 3 R, 2 RBI, BB.

While Joey Ortiz hasn’t enjoyed a ton of success at the plate in 2025, he certainly sees the ball well out of Pirates starter Mitch Keller’s hand as he now has six hits in ten career at-bats against the right-hander.

Nathaniel Lowe (WAS): 1-3, HR, R, 4 RBI, 2 BB.

Nathaniel Lowe smashed a first-inning Grand Slam to right field to get the scoring started in Washington’s 8-7 win over Kansas City on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Lowe is having his worst season in the Majors in his first season with the Nationals, as his walks have gone down, strikeouts have gone up, and his .216/.292/.373 would all easily be career-lows.

Vinnie Pasquantino (KC): 2-5, HR, 2B, R, 4 RBI.

Vinnie Pasquantino is quietly having a solid season for Kansas City, and his three-run fourth inning HR got Kansas City right back in the ballgame. The 27-year-old is now up to a career-high 22 HRs, and if he could get his 0.47 BB/K ratio back to the 1.03 level he had in his 2022 rookie season, we could be looking at a true breakout in 2026.

Geraldo Perdomo (ARI): 1-3, HR, 3 R, RBI, 2 BB, SB.

Speaking of breakout seasons, what a year it has been for Geraldo Perdomo, who continued his incredible 2025 by hitting his 13th HR and stealing his 19th base in Arizona’s comeback win over the Rangers on Wednesday. The 25-year-old is now one HR shy of matching his total from the last three seasons combined, and his 1.24 BB/K ratio is second in baseball.

Ketel Marte (ARI): 4-5, HR, R, 4 RBI.

Disgusting comments from fans and a home invasion have not fazed Ketel Marte this season, and he went into hero mode on Wednesday, hitting a go-ahead three-run HR in the top of the ninth inning off Phil Maton to give the Diamondbacks a 6-4 win. Even at 31 years old, the three-time All-Star continues to make improvements to his game as he has a career-high 13.2 BB% and has brought his K% down to its lowest rate (14.0%) since the shortened 2020 season.

Fernando Tatis Jr. (SD): 2-3, R, 3 RBI, 2 BB.

While the power has been lacking a bit with just two HRs over the last month, Fernando Tatis Jr. has excelled at getting on base from the leadoff spot for San Diego, and he was able to reach four times in Wednesday’s blowout win over San Francisco.

Ramón Laureano (SD): 3-4, HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, BB.

Looking like one of the savvier pickups at the deadline, Ramón Laureano provides the Padres with outstanding depth to their lineup, and he showed out on Wednesday, hitting his 17th HR and getting on base four times. The 31-year-old has been a revelation in 2025, hitting .296/.362/.539 despite this being the third consecutive season in which he’s played for multiple teams.

Jake Cronenworth (SD): 2-3, R, 2 RBI, 2 BB.

Yet another Padre who got on base four times yesterday, Cronenworth has shared Tatis’ power struggles over the last month, but is hitting .364/.500/409 in the last week. As the eighth hitter in the lineup, you could do a lot worse.

Miguel Andujar (CIN): 2-4, HR, R, 4 RBI.

Acquired at the trade deadline from the Athletics, Miguel Andujar has thoroughly enjoyed hitting in Cincinnati’s Great American Ballpark. After his Grand Slam on Wednesday, the 30-year-old journeyman is hitting .400/.520/.900 over the last week with three HRs and as many walks as strikeouts.

Graham Pauley (MIA): 4-4, HR, 2 R, RBI, BB.

Marsee wasn’t the only Marlin who had a career game on Wednesday, as Graham Pauley went a perfect 4-for-4 with his fourth HR of the season in the blowout win over the Guardians. After struggling for much of his time in the majors this season, Pauley has turned it on over the last week, hitting .375/.500/938 with three of his four HRs in 2025.

Yainer Diaz (HOU): 2-3, HR, R, 3 RBI.

Houston didn’t need much offense to back Hunter Brown against Boston yesterday, but Yainer Diaz provided them with the big blast, a two-run shot off Walker Buehler in the sixth to fuel the 4-1 win. He has now exceeded his HR total from last season and is just six away from tying his career-high set in 2023.

Jurickson Profar (ATL): 3-5, 2B, R, 3 RBI, SB.

After falling behind 6-0 to the Mets, Jurickson Profar ignited the Braves’ nine-run fourth inning with a bases-clearing double and added his fifth stolen base of the season in the game. Trying to make up for lost time after his 80-game suspension, Profar has been strong over the last week, hitting .292/.485/.500 with nine walks to just four strikeouts.

Marcell Ozuna (ATL): 2-4, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI, BB.

After a prolonged slump that saw him get benched for several games in a row, it looked like Marcell Ozuna was a lock to get traded at the deadline. The deadline came and went without a trade, and Ozuna has been scorching hot ever since, hitting seven HRs over his last 15 games.

Michael Harris II (ATL): 2-5, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI.

Georgia native Michael Harris II has officially earned his status as a pure second-half player. Over the last month, the 24-year-old has been hitting .342/.358/.633 with a whopping seven HRs, and he has a career wRC+ of 144 in the second half of the season to just 80 in the first half.

Taylor Ward (LAA): 1-2, HR, 2 R, RBI, 2 BB.

It is a shame when a player like Taylor Ward doesn’t get his due respect because he is hidden in the doldrums of the Los Angeles Angels. Ward hit his 29th HR of the season off Shohei Ohtani in the second inning, which ties him for seventh in baseball, and the Angels pulled off a 6-5 comeback victory to go a shocking 6-0 on the season against the vaunted Dodgers.

Junior Caminero (TB): 2-5, HR, 2B 2 R, 3 RBI.

I’ve run out of positive things to say about Junior Caminero, who has blossomed into one of the brightest stars in baseball this season at the age of 22. I thought maybe we would see the dreaded Home Run Derby slump after Caminero’s performance at the All-Star festivities, but he now has 13 HRs over his last 30 games and is hitting .414/.433/1.069 over his last week with six HRs.
