Welcome to the Waiver Wire Picks, our daily fantasy baseball article that looks at the best players in baseball that you should be adding to your rosters. We’ll look at the players that are likely to be available in most leagues, as well as some deep league waiver wire options, and we’ll also look at the most added players in fantasy baseball across the major sites, and let you know which players to add and which players you can leave on the wire.
Top Priority Players to Add
Angel Martínez (CLE), 2B/OF (Yahoo – 20%)
There may not be a hotter hitter in baseball right now than Angel Martínez, which probably has something to do with the fact that he led off for the first time tonight for the Cleveland Guardians. He went 0-4 in his debut as a leadoff hitter, but I still wouldn’t write him off just yet. He had two hard-hit balls on this one, and it will be worth paying attention to see if his leading off against lefties becomes the norm.
Martinez is a player whose been intriguing to me for a while now. He has good on-base skills and has good speed and enough power to be passable in that area. So far this year, he has a home run and four stolen bases already. He hit 11 home runs last year in 139 games, and if he can keep up what he’s doing while hitting 10-15 home runs this season, he’ll be a productive player. The key to his success will be whether he’s able to keep his low strikeout rate or not. He may not become more than a deeper league type of target, but in his hot stretches, he shows what his upside can be.
Nick Yorke (PIT), 2B/3B (Yahoo – 1%)
A name likely for the deepest of leagues right now, Nick Yorke is worth mentioning here. One look at his baseball savant page and it’s hard not to be impressed so far. He even notched the hardest hit ball of his career on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs, hitting a ball 113.5 mph. That ability to impact the ball for someone with only three career home runs comes as a surprise, but that’s also in a small sample of only 155 career at-bats scattered over the past three seasons. Nick Yorke was once a prospect of note who was also a first-round draft pick, so it’s not like he comes completely out of nowhere. As someone with that type of pedigree doing something impactful, he could definitely make a leap into fantasy baseball relevance. He will likely gain outfield eligibility in the near future as well, so he could be a versatile option for your squads as well.
Yahoo and ESPN Most Added Players

You could argue that the top two most added players in Yahoo are actually the highest priority adds available as well. The focus will be on Noah Schultz here, since Angel Martínez was mentioned above. Schultz is an exciting pitching prospect making a surprise debut for the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. He struggled in 2025 at Triple-A and battled injuries, but so far this season has looked more like his dominant self from 2024. In 14 innings, he’s allowed two earned runs and has a 19:2 K:BB ratio. In case he hits, he’s a worthy player to target aggressively.
For Max Scherzer, the enthusiasm for him is likely to wane after a couple of rough starts this week, and Kyle Freeland pitches for the Colorado Rockies, so no need to say more about him. As long as the injury is minor for Kyle Harrison, he’s been good so far, and pitches for a trusted organization in the Milwaukee Brewers and is definitely worth a look.

I focused on Jordan Walker last week as a priority pickup, and that still stands as he’s kept up his breakout to begin the season. Noah Cameron is a starting pitcher who was under-rostered to begin with, going into the season. He struggled Sunday, giving up five earned runs to the Chicago White Sox, but Cameron is a stable starter to keep on your team all season.
We’ve seen dominant stretches from Taj Bradley before, and what he’s doing so far doesn’t suggest it’s more than that. He had a stretch of dominance in 2024, so it’s not actually new. There is value in riding the hot hand, but it’s hard to view him as more than that until there’s more bankable command skills here.
Streaming Pitchers
Be sure to check out Nick Pollack’s SP Streamer Rankings, which he releases every day before any games have been played. It’s a great resource to use all season long. Check them all out here.
Steven Matz (TBR), SP (Yahoo – 9%)
Matz is an intriguing streaming option, especially considering he earned a win against the New York Yankees on Friday night. He has a nice schedule coming up with a matchup against the Chicago White Sox this week, followed up by a projected two-start week in which he will face the Cincinnati Reds and Minnesota Twins both in Tampa Bay. That lines up nicely for Matz, so expect him to keep up his early-season success for the near future. He may not be an exciting option anymore, but he’s a good bet to go five or six innings while limiting baserunners and potentially earn a win in any given start.
Foster Griffin (WAS), SP (Yahoo – 7%)
Griffin is another starting pitcher with a favorable upcoming schedule, but what’s been the most impressive so far is the way he’s handled some really tough matchups so far this season. He has faced the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Milwaukee Brewers in his first three starts and has produced a 1.76 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 15.1 innings pitched. In his most recent start against the Brewers, he earned a respectable B grade on his Pitcher List player card, so he’s not just getting by with average stuff either. There is the potential for more success earning strikeouts with some upcoming favorable matchups, where he’ll face the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox in two of his next three matchups.
Speculative Adds
Cade Povich (BAL), SP (Yahoo – 4%)
After a strong outing in the first start of the year on Sunday, Cade Povich is worth taking a flier on. Facing the San Francisco Giants, Povich went 6.2 innings, allowing five hits and an earned run, while walking none and striking out five. He produced an impressive 17 whiffs in this one on 97 pitches, and I’m very intrigued by this. He was allowed to throw nearly 100 pitches, and he’s a once-hyped pitching prospect who could finally be figuring things out. He will also face the Cleveland Guardians in his next start, so it’s the perfect time to give him a shot.
