Garrett Mitchell Continues to Impress — Fantasy Hitting Recap 8/18/2026

Breaking down Tuesday's notable hitting performances.

Mitchell Madness

Garrett Mitchell (MIL): 4-6, 2 R.

Michell, 27, may not have had the biggest night in terms of dynamic playmaking like we see later on throughout this recap, but the young outfielder has remained so consistently underrated (yet ultra-productive) for a premium organization like the Milwaukee Brewers that I figured he deserves the spotlight.

Amidst the chaos and Milwaukee’s 22-0 win over the Mariners at home, Mitchell led all players with four hits on the day and scored a pair of runs. He entered play yesterday with a solid slash line of .249/.349/.399 — good for a 109 wRC+ — but the expected numbers indicate Mitchell has a whole lot more left in the tank. This is best highlighted by his .433 xSLG — over thirty points higher than his true mark — and a stellar .344 xwOBA thanks to some of the best quality of contact in the majors this season.

EV HH% Barrel%
92.6 mph 50.9% 12.8%

There may not be just enough time for Mitchell to completely break out during the regular season, but mark my words this is a guy that will show out during the postseason and watch his stock soar into a breakout campaign next year.

Let’s see how the other hitters did Tuesday…

David Hamilton (MIL): 3-5, HR, 2 R, 4 RBI, 2 SB.

Hamilton, another Brewer who crushed Seattle pitching yesterday (who didn’t lol), launched a 99.4 EV / 393 FT solo home run off Josh Simpson, stole two bags, and also tallied two singles in an eventful win. The 28-year-old has raised his wRC+ to 80 while playing terrific defense at 3B (+7 DRS) after what was a disastrous 2025 season.

Jo Adell (CLE): 3-4, HR, R, 6 RBI.

Adell was massacring the baseball yesterday… take a look at his batted-ball events via Savant GameFeed:

Result EV (mph) xBA FT Bat speed (mph) Parks (HR)
Single 102.1 .540 62 83.7 n/a
Single 109.5 .690 156 79.4 n/a
HR 111.9 1.000 (!!) 455 (!!) 81.3 30/30

Adell has tallied three multi-hit games over his last four starts for the Guardians.

Willi Castro (COL): 2-3, HR, 3 R, 2 RBI, 2 BB, SB.

Castro has quietly been such a solid contributor for the Rockies. That was no exception yesterday, as he launched a 105.4 EV / 401 FT home run plus added a 98 EV single and two walks en route to a thrilling game against the mighty Dodgers.

Fernando Tatis Jr. (SDP): 2-5, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI.

Want to talk about being a dynamic playmaker? Tatis Jr. was precisely that yesterday against the Mets, robbing a go-ahead grand slam AND going deep twice while single-handedly outscoring the opponent… truly doing it all for his team. His pair of longballs came against young lefty Zac Thornton, registering EVs of  104.3 and 113.2 mph (!!) while traveling a respective 379 and 452 feet.

Alejandro Kirk (TOR): 3-6, 2B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI.

Kirk started his night with three consecutive hits, finishing a triple away from the cycle. His home run off Seth Martinez registered a 100.8 EV and traveled 408 FT. The veteran backstop continues to impress at the dish this season, slashing .279/.355/.419 with a 115 wRC+.

Mickey Gasper (BOS): 2-2, HR, R, 2 RBI, 2 BB.

Gasper, once laughed at after the Red Sox promoted him following Masataka Yoshida’s placement on the IL, has launched home runs in back-to-back games and owns an impressive 116 wRC+ against righties this season.

Trent Grisham (NYY): 2-4, HR, R, 3 RBI.

Grisham racked up three BBEs of 95+ mph, and more importantly, fueled a 3-1 Yankees win over their division rival Orioles on the road. His home run off Shane Baz (101.4 EV / 403 FT got things started early, but it was the 104.7 EV / .930 xBA two-run single that won the Pinstripes the game.

Pete Crow-Armstrong (CHC): 1-3, HR, R, RBI, 2 BB.

PCA? More like MVP. The young superstar continues to add to his resume, slashing .282/.381/.555 with a 155 wRC+ while amassing a whopping 8.4 fWAR this season. He cranked a 95.8 EV / 379 FT home run off Bryan Hudson yesterday with helped fuel a 4-3 Cubs victory — that leadoff bomb was his second in as many days!
