The 10 Nastiest Pitches From Friday

The Nastiest Pitches from Friday's MLB action

Every morning, the We Love Baseball crew reviews the Nastiest Pitches from the previous day’s games in glorious high-definition GIFs. We want to bring you the highest caliber of nastiness possible, so if you see a nasty pitch, please tell us about it. You can tweet @PitcherList to let us know, and we’ll give you a shout-out here in the article if your tip makes the cut.

As a bonus for PL+ members, let us know about a pitch on the PL+ Discord in the Nasty Pitches Channel, and if your suggestion is included the next day, you’ll be entered into a weekly drawing for a free T-shirt!

Kyle Wright’s Sinker

Kyle Wright brought the cheese with this pitch against Chas McCormick, and that cheese spilled all over Chas’ white pineapple print shorts. Filthy.

Emmanuel Clase’s Slider

Emmanuel Clase has unfair stuff, and this slider to close out the game was a perfectly nasty pitch.

Dylan Coleman’s Slider

Dylan Coleman was out there throwing whiffle ball sliders all night long, and it was hard to choose just one. Not pictured: Ji Man Choi slamming his bat on the ground in frustration after striking out on the high cheese on the very next pitch.

Félix Bautista’s Splitter

I attended this game with PL+ subscriber DaytonaIntimidators and his buddy Brad, and we had the pleasure of seeing one heck of a game. Our seats were sandwiched between a couple sitting behind us who got engaged during the middle of the game, and a six man bachelor party in front of us who kept disappearing one by one before the remaining soldiers stumbled out for good in the 4th inning. Shoutout to the guy from that group who clearly started his day with a beer at 8am and finished it by spilling cheese sauce all over his white pineapple print shorts.

As for Félix Bautista, his entrance into the game was absolutely electric and it scared the h*ck out of me. I can’t imagine what opposing hitters must feel when they hear Omar whistling…

Collin McHugh’s Slider

Collin McHugh’s slider is all kinds of nasty. Everyone loves the big breaking slider down and away from the batter, but front door sliders don’t get enough love. This one is deserving of all the praise.

Kutter Crawford’s Changeup

I had originally earmarked a nice curve from Kutter Crawford for inclusion here, but this pitch was way better. I’m not sure if I don’t remember this pitch because I was in line for a booze slushie at the time or if it’s just a result of the booze slushie…

Triston McKenzie’s Curveball

Triston McKenzie had how many strikeouts last night? 12? No. 13? No. 14? YES. This man is legit, and it was cool to see him rocking the Pitching Ninja tee after the game.

Lance McCullers Jr.‘ Changeup

Lance McCullers Jr. didn’t have his best stuff on Friday night, but this filthy changeup to Michael Harris II was all I needed to see.

Shane McClanahan’s Changeup

Speaking of nasty changeups, I love watching Shane McClanahan pitch in Tampa Bay with their gorgeous camera angle that really shows off lefty movement better than anywhere else. McClanahan as a Ray is a gift from the gods.

Keegan Akin’s Changeup

We’ll wrap up this edition of Nastiest Pitches with another fithy changeup, this time from Keegan Akin to get a big strike out with the bases loaded. Don’t ask what happened after, though.
