The 4 Best MLB Moments from Thursday

Thursday: always the best slate of the week.

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week and has a fantastic weekend. Time really flies when you’re having fun because somehow, we only have a little more than a month left in the season! Let’s enjoy it while it lasts and appreciate what it took to put on a full, 162-game season after the very short 60-game season last year.

Boink!

When Giancarlo Stanton gets ahold of a ball, he really gets ahold of it. His power leads to some majestic home runs and lights up the Statcast leaderboard, but it can also lead to one unfortunate side effect:

That home run — launched off the bat at 106 mph — lifted off at an 18-degree launch angle, so it was a line-drive screamer of a home run that our unlucky fan took right off the face. Thankfully, he was not physically harmed by Stanton’s laser, but his pride definitely is.

Everyone’s favorite umpire, Angel Hernandez, took pity on the poor fan in a later inning:

For all you young fans out there (or old fans that still haven’t gotten their first ball): All it takes to get one is to simply take a Stanton home run off the face. Are you ready?

The Cup Check

Speaking of ouch…

I’m told you only do the ‘cup check’ to people you like, so I guess that’s a win for Patrick SandovalHere’s the exact moment with poor Sandoval’s reaction (and also Jared Walsh’s surprise):

Joey Votto Continues to Bang

This fan had the perfect reaction to catching yet another Joey Votto home run:

Say it with me now: “Joey Votto still bangs!”

Since we’re doing some photo stills today, here is the fan’s reaction, immortalized by the Internet:

Roasted by the Announcers

PICTURE THIS: You, a baseball fan, are spending the day at the ballpark on a date. You’re trying to tell the date about something and it’s going pretty poorly because she’s not very interested in what you’re trying to say. Unbeknownst to you, the Brewers announcers are relentlessly roasting you for it:

We’ve had this scenario before, too!

Have a great Friday, everyone! Go do something that makes you happy, if you can.
