The 5 Best MLB Moments from Thursday

Good vibes all around during Thursday's games.

Happy, happy Friday, baseball fans! I hope you missed reading my Thursday recaps as much as I missed writing them. I am looking forward to at least two more beautiful months of baseball, as well as two more beautiful months of amazing MLB moments from those games. But, that’s enough sappy talk for the day. Let’s get to the fun stuff!

Just Guys Having a Height Contest

Ronald Torreyes and Ozzie Albies were having a little disagreement on who was taller. Naturally, Jean Segura stepped in to help the two sort it out, while Albies’ teammates watched on in amusement.

Segura said, “Get out of here, man!”

There’s just one problem. Turn your attention to the numbers to the left of the age and the right of their batting/throwing hands.

They’re clearly not the same height. MLB has some ’splaining to do! (H/T to PL staffer Benjamin Haller (@BenjaminHaller1) for the tip)

Substance Check Shenanigans

Kwang Hyun Kim is not a cheater. At least, according to Yadier Molina

Thanks for helping out, Yadi! I’m sure the umpires appreciated it.

Stroopwafel!

I don’t really know what to say about this Jim Gaffigan lookalike. I think the best way to enjoy this moment is to simply sit back and drink it in.

I finally have something to point to when people ask me what I want to do with my life.  I want to do what this man is doing.

Pete Fairbanks and the Unexpected Web Gem

Pete Fairbanks did his best Kevin Kiermaier impression today.

No matter what he tried, Yandy Diaz just couldn’t get Fairbanks out of his way! I don’t understand why Joey Wendle didn’t step in to help out his teammates, but it doesn’t matter. Fairbanks just punched his ticket to ESPN’s Web Gems and Top 10 segments.

Your Regularly Scheduled Barnburner

Holy Toledo, Mariners and Yankees!

There’s nothing quite as fun as seeing your team give up 12 runs in the final two innings of the game. GM Brian Cashman may dial up the DSL staff after that one. GM Jerry Dipoto (JeDi, for the uninitiated) may also have to give his DSL staff a call after they blew a three-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and then nearly blew a six-run lead in the bottom of the 10th.

Get out there and soak up some more baseball! If you’re feeling especially baseball-hungry, check out PitcherList’s Olympic baseball coverage, written by yours truly, Carlos Marcano, and Nicole Cahill.
