World Series Wrapup
Rays Rally, Stave Off Elimination
After uncharacteristic miscues cost the Tampa Bay Rays in various ways in the first three games of the World Series, all losses, it was only fitting that two rare errors by the Milwaukee Brewers were instrumental in keeping their season alive for another day. Pinch-hitter Ben Williamson’s base-loaded RBI single, the Rays’ fourth straight hit of the 12th inning, scored Nick Fortes with the go-ahead run, giving Tampa Bay a 4-3 victory in Game 4. Jonny DeLuca had driven in the tying run after Brewers rookie Cooper Pratt had hit a potential World Series-deciding homer in the top of the 12th. Instead, the Brewers had their eight-game postseason winning streak snapped, putting off any celebration at least a day. The Brewers lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.
After Pratt’s stunning homer put the Brewers up 3-2, Junior Caminero led off the bottom of the 12th with a grounder to third base. Joey Ortiz fielded the ball deep and near the line, but his throw short-hopped first baseman Jake Bauers, allowing Caminero to reach. Rookie left-hander Shane Drohan replaced right-hander Antonio Senzatela and gave up singles to Liam Hicks, DeLuca and, with Fortes running for Hicks, Chandler Simpson to load the bases. Williamson, the last player on the Rays’ bench, attacked the first pitch from Drohan, bouncing it through the right side for an opposite-field walk-off.

By The Numbers
17 The Rays are the 17th team to notch a walk-off win to avoid elimination and the 14th to do so in extra innings.
4 A day after Brewers teammate Jackson Chourio became the fifth-youngest player in World Series history to have a four-hit game, rookie Cooper Pratt (159 days younger) surpassed him in Game 4.
10 Chourio, meanwhile, joined the legendary Babe Ruth as the only players to have 10 hits in the first four games of a World Series. Ruth did it as the New York Yankees swept the St. Louis Cardinals in 1928.
18 With another 2⅓ innings in Game 4, Brewers left-hander Aaron Ashby extended his postseason scoreless streak to 18 innings, the longest in a single postseason by a reliever.

Do You Remember?
There was a lot to digest in that 12th inning. Let’s take another look.
Standing Up
In what has become a Game 4 tradition, MLB took time out to show its support for the fight against cancer. Most all of the Brewers players held Ueck cards for the late Bob Uecker.
Defensive Display
Rays center fielder Jonny DeLuca made a sensational catch.
Brewers second baseman Brice Turang turned a liner into two outs.

Then Rays left fielder Chandler Simpson in the top of the ninth.
And an on-point throw from Rays catcher Liam Hicks and tag by second baseman Richie Palacios got help from a replay review.

Hey, Buddy!
How do you greet your friends? This is how the Rays’ Yandy Díaz and Brewers catcher William Contreras said hi to begin the game.
It's all love between William Contreras and Yandy Díaz 😭
Near-Disaster
The miscommunication between Rays catcher Liam Hicks and third baseman Junior Caminero in the ninth could have been costly, but wasn’t.
This could have been a disaster for the Rays
