We’re already seeing some repeat names on the year for teams with shorter rotations, so we have some aces back in the pool for Tuesday. PLV co-leaders for the day are Julio Urías and Steven Matz – it’s understandable to be a little scared of ATL bats, but MacKenzie Gore had a surprising start vs them on Sunday, so it could be worth a gamble in tournaments. Rockies bats have cooled off a bit since the start and Urias should be a safe start. Speaking of safe starts, Shane Bieber gets the As, and Framber Valdez – who got a bit lucky in his last start, but should be OK here at home – gets the Tigers.
Luis Castillo had a solid 1-hit, 6-K performance in his 1st start vs CLE and gets the Angels in his home park. Ohtani is pitching on Wednesday, so he likely sits this one out, which takes some bite out of the lineup, which is also missing Rendon, who is serving his suspension.
“Mad” Max Scherzer gets his 2nd start of the season vs the Brewers who teed off on Carrasco yesterday. Have they gotten things figured out? Did they use up most of their magic yesterday and could be in for regression today? The quartet of Urias/Castillo/Bieber/Valdez should be good for any lineups you want to construct, but it’s hard not to at least mention him.
Yusei Kikuchi had an amazing spring training, and he gets the Royals, who also found something yesterday. The Royals haven’t seen much lefty pitching thus far but Sal Perez had his day off yesterday and will be back in the lineup, which is always a concern vs an L.
Pitcher | OB$ | DK$ | FD$ |

Max Scherzer | $9,800 | $10,800 | $10,800 |
Shane Bieber | $9,400 | $10,500 | $11,000 |
Julio Urías | $9,100 | $10,200 | $10,500 |
Framber Valdez | $8,900 | $9,900 | $9,800 |
Luis Castillo | $9,000 | $9,500 | $10,100 |
Steven Matz | $7,300 | $7,500 | $8,100 |
Yusei Kikuchi | $7,100 | $6,700 | $7,900 |
Hitting
Another day, another game at Fenway, another BOS-PIT game stack? Pivetta is the better of the two, but it may not matter. For BOS, keep rolling with Rafael Devers and Alex Verdugo up top. Adam Duvall continues to find ways to get on base, and Masataka Yoshida is starting to heat up. For PIT, they have a number of lefty bats that are all capable of getting to Pivetta – Bryan Reynolds, Oneil Cruz, and Ji Hwan Bae (who could return after a day off yesterday).
Chad Kuhl looks like a pitcher to exploit Tuesday vs TB. Luke Raley had two HRs yesterday, and as long as he’s facing a pitcher that’s not a K threat, he continues to be crazy value in the top half of the lineup. Josh Lowe is another value bat that can be used in a value stack based on the lineup. Wander Franco has also had a nice start to the season and should take advantage.
CLE faces JP Sears – who sounds more like a department store than a pitcher. The Guardians are strong vs lefty pitching and the mini stack of José Ramírez, Amed Rosario, and Josh Bell should all find ways to give the As another tough day at the Coliseum. Mike Zunino is also a solid play at catcher if you’re looking for one.
Likewise, the Yankees get a pedestrian lefty in Matt Strahm – stack at will from Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres, Giancarlo Stanton, and Josh Donaldson. If you need cheaper options, Oswaldo Cabrera had a solid .667 SLG rate vs lefties in spring training, and Jose Trevino or Kyle Higashioka are both catchers who can mash lefties in Yankee Stadium.
If you prefer the other NY team, they also have an exploitable matchup vs Wade Miley – consider the likely stack from 2-5 of Starling Marte, Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Mark Canha. Tommy Pham is even having a bit of a rebirth with the Mets at the moment.
Other bats of note:
- Look for Yordan Alvarez to do his thing vs a very hittable Matt Manning. Chas McCormick is also very good in R-on-R matchups.
- TOR tends to struggle a bit with lefty pitching with one notable exception – Matt Chapman.
- Matt Duffy is a decent value one-off for KC vs Kikuchi.
- Paul Goldschmidt did his thing yesterday and may choose to welcome lefty Dylan Dodd to the big leagues in his signature way.
