Fantasy Baseball Daily Hitting Recap: 8/18/25

Breaking down notable hitting performances from Monday's action!

Kyle Teel (CHW): 4-5, HR, 2 R, RBI.

Achilles’ Teel

With 2024 firmly in the rearview mirror, the Chicago White Sox have shown flashes of a promising future in 2025, thanks to solid rookie campaigns from players like Brooks Baldwin and Colson MontgomeryHowever, it was catcher Kyle Teel who was the biggest thorn in Atlanta’s side all Monday night, acting as the Achilles’ Teel Heel for the home team’s pitching staff, posting the best offensive performance of his career with a line of 4-5, HR, 2 R, RBI.

I’m not here to tell you that Teel is a must-add in redraft leagues right now, especially with how deep the catcher position has become with streaming options in 2025. However, I am recommending Teel as a buy in Dynasty leagues (at the right price) and suggesting you keep an eye on him for your drafts in 2026. His 24.4% K rate and 11.0% walk rate illustrate solid plate discipline for a 23-year-old rookie, and his xwOBA of .369 suggests there’s potential for a very solid hitter to emerge with maturity. It’s a small sample size thus far–just 164 plate appearances–but if the White Sox continue to improve their lineup, Teel could be a great “zero catcher” target in drafts next season. I’ll be watching his development over the last month and a half of this season closely.

Let’s see how the other hitters did Monday:

Jurickson Profar (ATL): 3-5, 2 HR, 3 R, 5 RBI, SB.

I have to admit I was skeptical of Jurickson Profar’s upside coming off a lengthy suspension, but he’s been red-hot over the past couple of weeks. In the last week alone, Profar has 11 RBI and is slashing .345/.457/.690. He’s still available in over 40% of Yahoo! leagues and is absolutely worth an add if you need an outfielder during the fantasy playoff push.

Trea Turner (PHI): 4-6, 2B, HR, 2 R, 5 RBI.

Speaking of red-hot, Trea Turner has five straight multi-hit performances. He recorded his 1,500th career hit in style with a three-run homer in the second inning, which was strangely his first homer in Citizens Bank Park all season. The superstar shortstop is heating up at just the right time.

Bryce Harper (PHI): 3-6, 2 HR, 2 R, 3 RBI.

Another superstar who contributed heavily in the Phillies’ win on Monday was Bryce Harper, who had a staggering 888 feet of home runs off of reliever Casey Legumina. All concerns of Harper’s wrist injury sapping his power are long gone, and he’s poised to help bring you and the City of Brotherly Love a championship this year.

Colt Keith (DET): 3-4, 2B, HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, SB.

It’s a combo meal for Colt Keith, who finally recorded his first steal of the season in addition to his 11th homer on Monday night. The numbers for Keith aren’t incredibly flashy, but he’s riding a modest five-game hit streak as the team’s leadoff man against righties. That role alone is enough to be a valuable fantasy asset who is eligible at a slew of infield positions.

Michael Harris II (ATL): 4-4, HR, R, 2 RBI.

The man is an enigma. One of the worst-qualified hitters through the first half of the season, Michael Harris II has a 1.145 OPS since the All-Star Break and suddenly appears unstoppable. Enjoy this hot streak while you can, as we know the MH2 ride can be a rollercoaster. He will once again be one of the most difficult players to value in 2026 drafts.

Caleb Durbin (MIL): 2-5, 2B, HR, R, 2 RBI, SB.

Durbin notched a combo meal in the first game of what was supposed to be a doubleheader, hitting from the second spot in the lineup. He was also slated to hit second in the nightcap and should do so again in the first game of today’s two-game slate. If you’re in daily leagues, he’s a nice grab for the day as one of the prime examples of the Brewers’ ability to turn everything they touch into gold.

Ezequiel Tovar (COL): 2-4, 2B, HR, 2 R, RBI.

Ezequiel Tovar is rostered in just under half of Yahoo! leagues despite having solid ratios and counting stats while being an extra-base hit machine. He’s one of the rare Rockies who is worth starting both at home and on the road and is a solid option at shortstop if you need a change of pace at the position.

Cole Young (SEA): 1-4, HR, R, 4 RBI.

Cole Young hit his fourth homer of the season on Monday night, a three-run shot off Jordan Romano. I’ll be following Young’s career with great interest, but he isn’t quite at the point of fantasy relevance for me unless you’re in a deep league or playing in an AL-only format.

CJ Kayfus (CLE): 2-3, HR, 2 R, RBI.

Cleveland’s No. 4 prospect belted the second home run of his career on Monday off DBacks starter Zac Gallen. He’s settled into a near-everyday role in the Guardians’ lineup, but like Young above, he isn’t a fantasy-relevant asset just yet, especially considering he’s eligible at deeper positions.
